My mom is an internist (and a 65-year-old triathlete!). She sent me the below article from Annals of Internal Medicine. Of note (and perhaps not new knowledge) is that risk seems to be higher in males and increases with age. Most of the deaths (67%) occurred during the swim and a plurality of cases (44%) showed signs of cardiovascular abnormalities.
