Biosteel Electrolytes
I'm trying to cut out sugar from my diet and I'm looking at Biosteel as a way to avoid the massive amount of sugar found in Gatorade. I just did my first workout on the stuff, and it's not bad. Not quite as sweet, but after eliminating most other sweets from my diet, it's something I can get used to.

Has anyone done an IM or 70.3 on the stuff?

A few issues I'm thinking:
  1. I'm used to getting sugar calories during a race from Gatorade. Not a big deal if I acclimatize to no sugar, and I'd have to rebalance my nutrition, but that seems altogether achievable.
  2. They don't obviously serve on course, so I'd have to either premix and carry all nutrition with me or mix on the go. Not too much trouble for a 70.3, but an IM might prove harder logistically if I have to carry 4-5 of the mix pouches.
  3. It's made/flavoured with beet powder, which I understand is supposed to both magically improve endurance as well as make you empty your bowels. This I'd want to test.

I figure I'll take the mix pouches with me on long rides so I get used to it and then do the same for races, but has anyone made the switch from Gatorade-type mixes to a sugar free mix?
