I grew up in and around Austin. Other than canoeing, I can't recall a race in that lake in the 80's and early 90's. IDK maybe it is cleaner now but certainly not with the runoff from the Hillcountry. It was a great race when it was on loop 360. Doubt they could get 3k people on that course.
