i have a set of 9spd Shimao bar end shifters. Brand new Less than 30mi on them. They are currently mounted to the aerobars but can be taken off if aerobars are not wanted. MSRP 89.99, will sell for $65 shipped

So, do they come with the cables and everything? Are they easy to install? (I am somewhat good mechanically, but I've never done this before and just got into cycling)

i am NOT mechanically inclined. The shifters are still mounted onto the aerobars. If there is a way to salvage the cables and housing etc. when i take them off then yes ill incude them. Ill run it by my mechanic tomorrow and ill get back to you...

Well, apparently I can get them here for less than $59 shipped, so.....unless anyone can beat that, I will have to resort to them.

Do you need 10 speed?....the ones for in the $50 range on tri-zone are for 8 and 9 speed.

I need 9 speed, but apparently I can use 8 speed and run it in friction mode?

Yes you can - possibly even indexed per many writeups including this one:

However, the throw on the 8 speed should be more than sufficient for an 9, might even work 10.
