I've read so many mixed reviews of egg beaters. Anybody have an opinion on them? It's for a cross bike so I can appreciate the benefit of clearing the mud and getting in and out, but the quality...and need to "rebuild" seems to be a common theme.

I've used Crank Brothers exclusively for over 4 years on tri, road, cross, mtb, and commuter. Never had a problem. Never had to rebuild. If you do rebuild, however, it's simple & quick.

I've got them on my HT & on my FS. I've been abusing them pretty hard for the last 3 years with no complaints at all.
