A safe rule of thumb: Craigslist is meant for local sales, cash only, in person. Anything else is a really bad idea.Great advice. To add to this
1) Always bring a friend when you do the transaction. Two friends, if you have them, are even better (especially if you're carrying cash).
2) Don't agree to meet in the parking lot. Meet inside a public business. One that is well lit, and has surveillance cameras. Alot of businesses have coffee shops inside (Walmart, Target, grocery stores, etc), which can be a great place to meet. Then if you need to go outside you can do so. This way they are one film and potentially seen by other people if needed.
3) Trust your instincts. If something doesn't seem right, back away.
