Housing for Steelhead available
Our tri club (Chicago Tri Club) rented a few houses in downtown St. Joe's for Steelhead - and, as is typical, we have people who've backed out at the last minute and so we have spaces available. If you're interested in staying in a house, please PM me. The cost is $205 per person - this gets you a bed spot - depending on how many people we wind up with and how many single/twin beds there are, you might get a whole bed, might have to share. No guarantees that you get to share with an attractive member of the opposite sex. :-)

Since we had to rent the houses for a whole week, this is a particularly good deal for people who want to go up a few days earlier and turn it into a training week or mini-vacation. (Houses are rented from 7/27 - 8/3.) The cost is the same. It's also good for people who want to be able to bike to the race site - or who didn't get a room at the HI Express and want to avoid staying in a scary motel in Benton Harbor (and yes, I know not all of them are, but some....)

Plus we're having a club party Saturday after the race at one of the houses. Schwag may be involved.

Yeah, I've stayed in one of the scary hotels in Benton Harbor. It was expensive, too. Yuck.

LOL, my "favorite" place is the Motel 6 in Benton Harbor - on their website they show a picture of a reasonable-looking 2 story hotel structure. Too bad that's not a picture of the actual motel! Which is a grim, 1-story affair that had a line of people at reception waiting to complain about various things: flood in room, sink that separated from the wall, mold, etc. All minor things, really :-o

Is it 205 per night or just 205 total? I'd be interested from Thursday to Sunday.

It's $205 for the whole week. Sorry but you have to pay the $205 no matter how many nights you stay. It's a one week minimum for the rental houses. $205 is still cheaper than any of the decent hotels, most of which have a 2 night minimum.

It's $205 per person for the whole week. Unfortunately you have to pay the whole week no matter how many nights you stay since it's a one week minimum for the houses.

Yes, but we save those for couples. To get the price down per person we put two to each room. So unless you're on a twin bed, you'll be sharing.

We still have a few spots left, in case anyone has realized that the race is a couple of weeks away and they forgot about housing - or has realized that they're staying in a dump and would like something nicer.
