Russia is banned from participating as a nation in the 2018 Winter Games due to widespread and governmentally sanctioned doping programs. They get a reprieve for their athletes, in what constitutes something of a joke, allowing them to compete as OAR. Then, during the games, 2 OAR athletes test positive for banned substances, 50% of the total athletes who tested positive so far in these games.

And now Russia is petitioning to be able to fly their flag at the closing ceremonies.

I’m not sure why people don’t understand that this is how Russia always acts. They will push the boundaries, and if you fail to smack them back down, they won’t respect your actions and will continue to push.

I’m also not sure why the IOC is apparently even considering this.

Have you listened to the JRE podcast with the creator of the 'icarus' documentary? If not, it's well worth a listen, and, IMHO, much better and more informative then the actual documentary.

The IOC is a joke.

I'm confused, how did this thread turn into a thread about Trump? Oh right, Sanuk and others joined in.

As for the OP. What is really funny, and truly proves the incompetence of the IOC. Russia has been told that if no other athletes test positive beyond the two who already did, their committee will be re-sanctioned. The IOC are just as corrupt at FIFA.
