What is your complaint exactly?

Besides the multitude of serious fashion don'ts, the lining everyone up by height (with the only woman on the end), Trump seeming to be standing on a riser to make him taller than everyone else (although it may be the camera angle) and having the mic cord just lying there?

Just as I thought. Just another liberal braying like a jackass over nothing.

I love how the image celebrates diversity. The photo shows how inclusive the GOP is to all colors ranging from white to beige to chalk to egg shell to alabaster.

I dunno. I'm getting kind of tired of our celebration of diversity. Every time I look behind the scenes at "diversity", I see racial preferences. I'm good with diversity, but I'm not good with racial preferences.

Diversity shouldn't be an objective, it should be a result of equal opportunity. What does our call for "diversity" mean when we make it easier for one racial group, and make it harder for another, because they're historic over achievers? If I was was of Indian or Oriental descent, I'd be pissed that my group was, in pursuit of "diversity", often intentionally excluded because my group tends to work it's ass off.

When our lack of diversity is a result of one group not working as hard to succeed as another, attempts to achieve diversity are racist as heck.

OK sure, so how do you explain the near total uniformity of the assemblage then?

It's become entirely unremarkable to aggressively promote protected classes in most venues where a level playing field would be most fair. Jobs, contracts, academics, promotions, you name it. Much of this is even enshrined by law. Where it's not, institutions are so culturally predisposed to do it, that they press against the boundaries of law. I give you, for example, college admission policies that occasionally have to dial it back a bit. These are grossly racist policies all.

Then we have the outrageously racist/sexist actions of the various protected classes. Black companies that overtly prefer blacks employees and that's ok. Chick companies that overtly prefer chicks and that's ok. Contracts that give preferences to protected classes, and that's ok. Companies that advertise themselves as primarily some protected class, and that's ok. IIRC there were whole districts of Philly that were 99-100% Obama, and no one batted an eye. Some admin is trying to fill some senior position and they go out of their way to find a protected class person to find the job, be it cabinet or SCOTUS, and that's ok. All these outrageous examples of racism, sexism, and all the other isms, and it's all ok because "protected class". Such hypocrisy our culture shows.

But the president is in front of a bunch of white guys and an explanation is required. Right.

Besides, calling Trump representative of the GOP is silly. The GOP has it's warts, sure. But Trump being in office represents only the result of a comparison between Trump and HC to the GOP faithful. And the fact that the GOP faithful aren't any smarter then the Dem faithful. Heck, they're probably less smart. What a lousy choice we all had in that last election.

Ahhh, let me think about it.....no.

Obviously we will never be a perfect meritocracy. But our institutions and our culture should all reinforce the message of hard work and good decisions are the path to success. What are culture and our laws shouldn't be doing is enshrining racism/sexism, and other isms as "ok, but only for some.". The ism crap isn't ok for anyone.

So why is it that white men are overwhelmingly more successful at working hard and making good decisions?

It seems that calls for diversity are only directed at organizations and groups where whites are disproportionately represented. When blacks or Hispanics are overly represented suddenly diversity doesn't matter. So it's not really about diversity but rather it's about forcing whites to take a back seat.

In many professional fields, women are now entering in larger #'s than men. Look at the demographics of folks chasing after advanced degrees over the past 40yrs. Also, consider how well various Oriental and Indians are doing in the hard sciences in the US, vs whitey. Change is happening all around us.

So lets continue the philosophy of the status quo and reduce the #'s of women getting advanced education because not fair to men. It's already harder, at some schools, for Orientals and Indians to get in. Because it's ok to be racist if one is "progressive", right?

A law handing advantages to a race is just as vile as "back of the bus" and "this lunch counter not for you" laws. We don't get to pick and choose our racist laws.

I'm curious, in what fields is this over-representation occurring?

NBA, NFL.

And why do you think this is happening? Do you think it's just from hard work or do you think there has been legislation that has helped to make this happen? Do you honestly believe this would have happened if there wasn't a push for diversity from those being left out?
