“Poachers have shot dead a rhino after breaking into a zoo near Paris, hacking off its ivory horn with a chainsaw in the first such case in Europe.” http://www.telegraph.co.uk/...de-french-zoo-first/
Sickening (and is it even poaching if they're in a zoo?) I’m not a big fan of zoos in the first place, but at least they keep the animals alive.
Poaching in general gets me hot under the collar, almost irrationally so. If I step back and look at why some people do it (e.g., in some places it's the best/only realistic option for finding a way to support their families) I can see some of the complexities, but my default reaction is anger and a desire for swift, physical punishment of the perpetrators.
