At the company I work at when people take a new role there is an announcement to the company. This, I assume, is pretty normal.
Anyway, recently I took a new role. Someone else also took a new job. So an announcement for both of us was coming.
I expected it to come over the holiday season. I was really hoping it would come out as I want people to know that I am no longer the face of IT. So I asked about it and was told that it will be sent out this past week.
I didn't understand the delay so I asked about it. I was told that some people get upset when announcements like this come during the holidays because not everyone is at works and they don't get all the congratulations the feel they deserve.
Sweet Lord. This is what we've come to? To be honest I really don't give a shit if anyone congratulates me. I just want everyone to stop asking me questions about their computer.
Oh and the announcement still hasn't happened yet.
