China Exports
Okay, so with the recent news about the Taiwan call and Trump's previous statements supporting a large tariff on Chinese exports, how would this potentially impact (if at all) direct purchases from China - I'm talking things like Alibaba or eBay where you can get knock offs at next to nothing.

If (and I know that is just that, an "if"), a policy was enacted to place a 45% tariff on exports, how long would it realistically be for that to be rolled out? Or would this be basically moot for those suppliers/sellers that claim the product is worth much less than it is in order to reduce/avoid customs taxes for the buyer?

I'm not commenting on the policy idea itself, just asking selfishly as I have a decent sized purchase planned for the spring and wondering if I should re-evaluate. What says the LR?

Disclaimer - I freely admit my lack of knowledge in the economics of imports/exports, so I could be way off base here.
