Got to ride in one this weekend. Did the 0 to 60 mph acceleration in 2.8 seconds or thereabouts. It was awesome, that is all!

So the big question after riding in ludicrous speed Tesla...did you go plaid?

I'd love to drive (or even ride) in one. I've heard the acceleration is like a rollercoaster, but dead quiet.

Yeah it was quiet, felt like a smooth roller coaster. I went to some on-line calculators and if I'm interpreting things correctly it should have been around 6Gs, probably a bit over as we were actually going downhill. Pretty neat technology.

Not quite. 60 mph = 88 ft/s. Assuming constant acceleration, your acceleration was 88 ft/s / 2.8 sec = 31.4 ft/s^2... which is about 1 G.

Also, if you were heading downhill, the 'boost' from gravity would, I believe, actually reduced your sensation of 'Gs'.

Yes, you're right. I just plugged the numbers into a website but realize I read the wrong output. It would have been 6 G's on the moon!

Yep. I drove one too. Quite impressive. I can't believe they let you browse the Internet on the huge "iPad" on the dash when driving.

Great car in many ways.

Has one of these.

Teslas on the moon-- cool!

Although... I doubt the Tesla could achieve the same acceleration if the weight holding down its wheels were six times smaller; probably a lot of spinning out.

A coworker just had his Model X delivered. He offered to take us all out to lunch. We went to the front of our building with him and we thought we would go to the parking lot. He said "wait here" and he summoned his car on his phone. It unparked itself from the employee lot and drove around the building to greet us by the lobby. When it arrived, it opened up the doors so we could get in. The AC was already going.

We got on the freeway and he put it in Auto-pilot. We were doing around 60 mph in slightly heavy traffic while he turned around and chatted with us in the backseat, hands off the steering wheel, foot off the pedals. The car tracked the lane lines and any traffic around us and adjusted speed accordingly. We played with the huge touchpad in the center console looking up porn sites. We could not get it to stream anything but we were able to download a couple of videos.

When we got back to the office, he sent the car back to the parking lot by itself.

Very cool stuff.

For the last few years it has been my dream car, until I read this:

It appears there are quality issues, but all covered under warranty for now.

I have a Model S 70D.

I'm not going to lie to you and tell you its been perfect, but all of my issues have been covered by Tesla with out question. And all of the issues was when it was straight from the factory, I don't know if they happened in transit or if they were QA problems, but the Tesla factory is a young factory that is still growing, unlike a 100 year old MB that they have dialed it in perfectly. Of all the MBs and BMWs I have had, I have never considered that I needed to look the car over at delivery. I got my Tesla home and found issues. I called them and they took care of it.
