Greatest plane ever built was the B-17G.

US WWII Bombers??? I like a nice B-25H with four .50 cal machine guns and a 75mm cannon in the nose and two more .50's on each side.

love the Corsair.

an airfield near me used to have two Hellcats parked side by side, huge, stubby looking things. The engine cowls looked about five or six feet across. I imagine a Corsair is (was) bigger.

on the cool, but frightening list, a Focke Wolfe with the twirling nose paint coming straight at you.

What was really cool was when those cats would skip their bombs to the target. imagine having all that opening up on you then 3 250 pound bomb coming at you at head level. Poor Japs.

I agree with the Thunderbolt. Theere is something to be said for functional purity. That bird is simly stunning too watch fly.

I remember being at the wings over Houston Airshow when I was about 8. I was talking to an uncle about something and I hear the most wonderful sound I had ever had touch my ears, I turned to see a P-38 barrel rolling down the flight line. Those Turbo-superchargers were whistling, and the throb of those engines. I knew tright then and there I was dyed in the wool airplane Junkie.
