Not really. Not surprising. I know we are doing some really "nice" things in Iraq, but building schools, hospitals and smiling at all the children does not justify losing almost 1,900 soldiers. We can do those things in many countries in the world (ie. most of Africa), without losing a single young man. Thats what your beloved UN is for. Ask Kofi why he hasn't done anything there. While we are there being nice, we are also creating more animosity and terrorists who will someday, attack us, and then it won't seem quite as rosy. Yes we are being "nice" to the Iraqi's but we are also trying to kick the shit out of the terrorists.

I was in the inner city of a large city here and wondered again why we are not building our own schools, Ask your local politicians. Don't try and blame your cities lack of schools on the president. He signed the largest education bil in history written by Ted "the swimmer" Kennedy. Its not always about the $$. why 45 million Americans do not have health care, because they choose not too. Its a lie you on the left try to perpetuate that health care is not available. It is.why our hospitals have backlogs and then remembered, it's because we decided that going to another country and trying to get them to adopt our way of life is more important to us than taking care of our own. No, its because hospitals and emergency rooms are closing all over the country primarily for monetary reasons. The illegal immigrants have, and are creating such a drain on our health care we can't afford to keep hospitals open. Now if you want to point the finger at the President you have to get in line behind me because that is where he has failed this cuntry. But its not just the Republicans. The left is equally to blame. Instead of caring for all the oppressed people of the world, let's just focus on those that have oil. Oh what oil was in Haiti, Somalia, Bosnia etc?

Spreading freedom and democracy is a wonderful ideal, but how can we spread freedom and democracy by force? Again you miss the point. Its not by force. What happens if a country would prefer to be ruled by Islam? Which country do you know where the "people" want to be ruled by religious fanatics? Shouldn't we step back and let these countries choose for themselves, and how can they, with 140,000 armed troops on their soil?

Iraq is going to be a long conflict because we don't know what we are doing, not because it has any remote resemblance to WW2.
Its so nice for you to tell us we don't know what we are doing. Seems to be the lefts mantra. Funny thing is you/they put forth no alternative solution.

You're actually saying "It's not by force" to Iraq? You can actually say that with a straight face? Whoa.

Casey: "What happens if a country would prefer to be ruled by Islam?
armytriguy: "Which country do you know where the "people" want to be ruled by religious fanatics? "

1) Israel

2) Algeria. 1991. Free and democratic elections. Islamic Party of Salvation (FIS) got more votes than expected in first round of voting. Elections got called off, thousands of people killed and the party that was about to win the elections got outlawed.

3) Egypt. If true, free elections were held in Egypt Islamic parties would clean up. Why? People are sick of "democratic" gov. they have now as it as a corrupt sellout to the US.

Quite a few other examples throughout the world, in the last 20, 30 years even.

See where some of the problems are?

Probably not, and it's really not worth it trying to explain something to a "soldier" whose only arguments in the posts are "left says that, it's a lie". I guess that's what the orders say.
