As with any group you have you're "mainstream" and complete wack jobs. You have to watch the wack jobs and leave everyone else alone.

Just because you have people like this guy does not mean that every person that carries similar belief set is as nuts.

there was a time when terry, bauer, dobson, et al were extremist whackos that didn't get any play in the media or with either political party. that's not the case anymore. i am well aware he doesn't speak for all christians, but he's amongst the most politically active and influential at the moment...

And certainly one should keep an eye on his/their activities.

As I posted in the "home schooling" thread, we must always remain vigilant on any one faction arresting to much control of the government.

Frankly at this point I'm FAR more worried about the "Let's take care of everyone and everthing by spending more money" crowd than I am any other group. Unfortunately the affor mentioned crowd includes pretty much the whole of all politicians and would mean a complete and utter douching of DC in order to fix.

"The Socialists scare me too."

Especially those that are home schooled and went to Marxist "U".

But yes more seriously the leanings to "socialism" in this country are becoming very strong. Unfortunately the "attack" is coming from nearly all directions rather than particular groups. Conservative and Liberal alike see the answer to all problems as "throw money at it" and "Make it the same for everyone".

Frightening really.

[Sarcasm On]

I find it shockingly amazing that government officials seem to be partaking of ideas and actions that lead people to become dependent on government for everything from morality to meal money. I'm stunned.

[Sarcasm Off]

At this point, there is no going back. Many people would rather be aided by the government, than to live independent with more freedom.

Heading toward socialism in simplistic terms is "career self-preservance". Fields of various professions are usually very good at making sure they don't contribute to their own extinction.

If you want to be scared, take a look at this site:

christianexodus.org

There's an article about them in GQ this month. Clearly a fringe nutjob group, but amusing nonetheless. The leader is actually quoted as saying that literacy is overrated, people lived fine lives in the 19th century.

Great stuff.
