It's a longshot, I know...

I was finalizing my race schedule this past weekend, and it's semi-ridiculous how much I'll have to spend on car rentals this year.
So I got to thinking that maybe picking something up might be worth my troubles, since I'd have the sunk cost of rentals anyhow, plus this will afford me the option to do some suburban riding this year & get off the devil that is the lakefront path.

I have been doing a bit of hunting on craigslist, and it's as skeevy for used cars as you'd imagine.
Maybe 1/30 ads is for a real car. It's just not worth the time/trouble/risk.

I'm in Chicago, Lincoln Park to be exact.
Looking to something used, not too pricey, since it's really just to haul my bike & gear around.
4wd is preferred, thinking something like a grand cherokee, subaru wrx, audi a4, vw, etc..
Local dealing is obviously preferred.
