it just reminded me of a quote I read from a book called "S comme sotise" (S as stupidity). a collection of dumb quotes organized by category
"politics, journalists, students, men, women, pupils etc"
one in the pupils category was

"in ancient Sparta, men would go to war from 7yo to 77yo and during this time their women where having babies"


that's what the picture made me think about...

Remarkable, as was the radio commentary (BBC and NPR). And, the photographer who took the first picture is an artist.

Gerard's funeral is going to be like that. Except everyone will geeks in lycra shorts or speedos.
