Yeah it's amazing to me as well! If I were designing it I'd make it some kind of spring loaded cartridge you can just insert into the stem and push to "lock" in. Then you could take the box out for charging or maintenance etc. I'm no engineer however so either people just find no glory in stem designs or there is a reason behind that. I actually find that cyclists are slow at adopting things. Maybe it has a lot of it has to do with pro cycling and the UCI regulations. That or the mechanics are skeptical that stems with a slot for junctions boxes / two piece stems will "affect stiffness and control in the steering" or something silly. I find Triathletes to be quick on the uptake in contrast and it causes a bit of a paradoxical situation.
