Nope, no V8 saddle yet. The broadcast e-mail stated shipping the week of June 23 or the week after. Per order tracking, nothing has shipped yet, and my race season is half over. I sure hope this saddle is “all that” and this wait is worth it. ![]()
Mine arrived a bit over a week ago. A few minor issues that Matt @ Wove is helping me sort out, but overall I’ve been happy with the saddle. A few hours indoors and a three hour ride outside. Strangely enough it’s MUCH more comfortable outside than any other saddle I’ve used. The bottle mounting options are excellent too. I picked up some TriRig cages for the below and above the saddle mounting positions and they’re so tight I probably don’t even have to use the Wove bottle straps.
Same here. Mine came with a small tear in the foam, but I rode for a few hours this weekend and was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it was, and I love the bottle position, just really easy to reach. My plan is to use it for Boise next week and then send it back to get that foam repaired, but otherwise it’s a keeper, I’m really happy with it.
Shipped out 130 saddles yesterday.
Demand is high, and we’re having to produce over 100 saddles a week to keep up.
We’ve been updating our tooling quite a bit for QC and efficiency purposes; just a part of the learning process.
Have some special edition LCB, KB and FFunk saddles coming out.
And looking forward to our athletes racing at IMLP this weekend.
Got mine a few days ago and I must say… it is quite a piece of work. I almost just want to put it on display and not ride it. Especially with the Wove rear bracket for the dual bottles, amazing.
Thank you!
Definitely private message me if you need any help getting your saddle set up. The instructions page on our website has a nice little setup video, and customers very often send me a video over WhatsApp for some bike fit assistance.
And the 'gram says Lemieux and his ‘housemate’ have invested in Wove
Congrats Nick.
Wove riders – what torque are you able to clamp your saddle?
The Wove setup instructions say “Please use the torque specifications suggested by the manufacturer of your seat post clamp.” My Scott has a max torque of 12 Nm and I typically clamp to 11-12 Nm to prevent the saddle from progressively titling down, but I’ve heard Wove recommends lower torque (7-8 Nm) and carbon paste. Any experiences from the field?
(Not replying to Nick specifically, but figured he might be able to provide suggestions and/or feedback from riders)
We do not suggest tightening to a lower torque than what is suggested on the clamp recommendation. We do suggest carbon paste just to prevent any slipping, but feel free to clamp close to or at the max clamp torque suggestion, recognizing that this is the absolute max suggested torque, not the requisite, and not the minimum.
Echoing everything you said here, I thought several times during IMLP this past weekend “this saddle is worth every penny and wait time!” Well maybe not the wait time since I wish that I had it for my couple spring races this year!
That’s the first IM I’ve done (4 total now) where I’ve not had saddle discomfort, shifting around, a worse aero position, power dropoff, or some combo thereof in the 2nd half of the bike. The saddle does a great job of holding you in place every over rough roads so that you’re not sliding forward (even when it was pissing rain on the bike at times in LP), and the padding on the nose of the saddle is so nice that you can lean into it all day while still being supportive. You can also ride a few different positions, really get up on the nose when climbing and slide far back and rotate your hips well on fast descents. I even pushed my fastest time up the couple climbs to LP in aero on lap 2 of the bike, despite having almost no idea where I was going with the rain. Ended up with 3rd amateur bike split (I could kick myself now for babying the corners and being a min behind the fastest split), highest power I’ve too! Like you said, that couple bottle setup was sick and let me carry almost 500g carbs and 200mg sodium there with no issues (and an unscientific test I did a few days before travel had it probably 0.5mph faster).
Point being, if you’re on the fence and racing IM especially, it’s so worth it to spring for the V8. I think for 70.3 and shorter you can get away with a lot more especially when pushing hard or riding on smooth courses. And like you said it looks awesome too, I had a couple questions asking what saddle I was riding or commenting that my setup looked great.
I just raced Boise in the V8—it was great, I didn’t think about my butt even once during the whole ride. I might need to get a Mags for my road bike now.
I was just riding around on one at the Rodeo Labs shop yesterday. You 100% won’t regret that purchase.
Hi all, maybe a long shot but any chance someone knows where I can find this piece or has one laying around? I got my saddle a couple weeks ago and am dying to try it but my clamp is for round rails and haven’t been able to find the one for 9x7 oval rails.
Thanks in advance!
What bike - the clamp ‘ears’ are specific to the seatpost normally.
It is a 2017 Felt IA 16
Not knowing where you are located, but i can order them here in the EU without a problem.
Jeroen
Doesn’t the wove saddle have round rails? The demo saddle I had a year+ ago did…
Edit - I assume you are talking about the mags saddle, not the V8? I see that one has the rails you mention…
I was able to get a replacement seat clamp by contacting a local Felt dealer, who was then able to order it from Felt Canada. So I’d do that, check with a dealer, see if they can order one.
The new V8+ saddle has oval rails.
