In the betting markets Harris is a 2-1 fav in being the dem nominee.
The President will drop out before the convention, I’m almost certain. Who does Harris tap (or accept) as her running mate?
Likely a white male with executive experience and low negative polling numbers.
Guesses?
Barack Obama. Here’s the argument why this would be constitutional:
It’ll never happen, and it would be litigated fiercely if it did. And it’s easy to guess how it would ultimately be decided by the Supreme Court. But if you want to see heads explode…

Yeah, that’s where I’m at too. I’ll wait for the official announcement, but it’s looking much better.

I wasn’t familiar with your source, Mark Halperin. I’ll say he has a very colorful Wiki page.
Neither am I. We will see whether or not he’s full of shit.
A rando* link that quotes “Multiple sources” (with no FURTHER links) and some chump YouTube channel, doesn’t convince me, sorry
Gimme some solid Journalism, with confirmed sources, and I’ll consider it — sorry, I’m Old-School, that way
What could be more reliable sources than Newsmak and Charlie Kirk?
Charlie Kirk? Everyone knows the best source for word on the street is Huggy Bear.

I think the Mark Kelly pick is a good one. Helps with AZ and NV, and keeps it neutral to positive in those middle states. And he has name recognition, and even some gun chops. His border stance is away from Biden and closer to the build a wall crowd, but in the middle…Honestly I would rather have him at the top of the ticket, but seems that poll position on this is already decided…Or is it???
I’ve been asking for Mark Kelly since 2022. He checks all the boxes and can definitely get republican votes for what stated above.
I really wanted a Kelly/Whitmer ticket this year.
The only downside is dems would lose a senate seat.
Here is who it shouldn’t be,

two people that prefer men
someone who wears magic underwear
The ticket has to appeal to just a few battle ground states, and in case anyone hasn’t noticed, the majority of undecided and independents are Trump adjacent. They just need another reason not to vote for him…
If it is going to be Kamala at the top, I think the Mark Kelly pick is a good one. Helps with AZ and NV, and keeps it neutral to positive in those middle states. I agree with your sentiment, in general.
Frankly what I think bothers the swing state swing voters about the democrats is their, for lack of a better term, focus on wokeness. What they’d like to see is a Belichick.
But as I said above, my money says it’ll be a gay or trans person. I always say, no matter how bad the Republicans are, never underestimate the Democrats ability to blow and election.
Replying to last.
Sure seem like quite a few apparent Republicans here (from posting history in support of various positions) who would like a Democrat ticket that covers the centre, so slightly right bias by western norms. I wonder why they’re not pushing for a more centrist ticket from the Republican Party, but will vote Trump because… …policies?

As the VP?
Reminds me when Biden said his VP would be a women. Why not just pick the person that has earned and is ready for the position, instead say it in a way that insinuates that you are choosing gender over why they are qualified for the job?

I said it earlier in this thread, I believe the AZ gov gets to appoint the vacant seat. So it isn’t a loss in the senate. We just went through this with McCain
The governor does appoint the new senator. So it would not be a loss as the seat would be filled by a Democrat until at least 2028.
A Harris/Kelly ticket would be formidable.

Biden had essentially secured the nomination when he said that and likely had already decided to pick Harris, who was the most qualified of his options. Seems reasonable to score points with the base for something you were going to do anyways.

Oops, my wrong. Didn’t keep up with the thread. I withdraw my opposition to Harris/Kelly. I like hom a lot.

I agree with you.
Having said that, at the the time Biden knew what he was doing. Probably 75% of the country agrees with what you just said. The core of the Democratic party, however, LOVED when he said he’d pick a woman, which is partly why he got the nomination.
