When Harris gets the nomination who will replace her?

Shaprio, Cooper or Beshear would be my top 3 guesses.

Anderson or Alice?

Alice could lock down Wisconsin for sure. He’s a regular visitor there.

Sorry - I can’t believe that I let this pass

Biden had essentially secured the nomination when he said that and likely had already decided to pick Harris, who was the most qualified of his options. Seems reasonable to score points with the base for something you were going to do anyways.

I said as much in my last post.

However, he lost points with a lot of swing voters.

The Biden campaign is sending strong signals today that he’s staying in the race, including direct statements to reaffirm it. I don’t know what to think at this point. If the plan were to withdrawal then staying silent while he’s removing from COVID would be the obvious move, so who knows. Not a great look to be defiantly in one day and pull out the next.

I think that they have to be “in” and be defiant about it right up until the moment that he’s out. Those would be the marching orders to every surrogate and campaign member.

Congress comes back to D.C. by Monday (I believe). If he isn’t out by then, I think the dam breaks and there are many, many Dems that pile on the “get out” side. Telling him to get out has been normalized. There is now permission to say it out loud.

(But I waffle a lot, I know!)

At this point, even if he is fully capable of serving another 4 years he’s lost the confidence of the party. If he stays in, any attempt to re-unify the party is going to look forced and fake. He needs to step aside and I think he will.

Yep, kind of like when Nick Saban was not going to leave the Dolphins for Alabama.

It’s funny how the same people who are now admitting Biden is not fit for office and trying to push him out are the same ones who would be (and have been…) swearing black and blue that he is fine, it’s a stutter, nothing to see here, were it not for a pending election…

Replying to last.

Sure seem like quite a few apparent Republicans here (from posting history in support of various positions) who would like a Democrat ticket that covers the centre, so slightly right bias by western norms. I wonder why they’re not pushing for a more centrist ticket from the Republican Party, but will vote Trump because… …policies?

Who are the Republicans here that you are talking about?

No idea about this time but 4 years ago multiple Republicans here wanted the Democrats to nominate Kasich. It confused me why the Democrats would nominate a very conservative Republican who doesn’t agree with any of their policy positions. And then I see Romney mentioned above, even in jest.

It’s not funny. It’s hypocritical.

What’s funny is he is using Covid and hiding in his basement to shield himself from these same people who were fine with it when he did the same thing for the entire 2020 campaign. And he can run the clock out in his basement on them and there’s not a fucking thing they can do about it (if he chooses to). He has all the delegates and all the money. They wanted it this way.

speaking of “funny”

have you noticed who is still in Joe’s corner.

AOC, Bernie, etc.

Odd, considering we were sold that he was going to govern as a “centrist” and a “moderate”.

I suspect the people who have converted to the Biden is not fit for office camp are a small sliver of those who have recently converted to the Biden should drop out camp. I’m in the latter group, not yet the former (though I’m open to evidence, including evidence of any alleged cover up).

I can only speak for me. I think he should drop out because he can’t beat Trump. And losing to Trump should not be an acceptable option.

“I tried my best”. No, that’s not good enough. Too much is on the line.

It has nothing to do with how fit or unfit he is for office. He’s more fit for office than Trump.

But thanks for beating him once, now move out of the way.

Having said all that, I don’t get a vote and even if I did, I would vote for a mouldy sandwich over Trump.

should that be the basis of our primary system moving forward in our “democracy”. Or is this just a special case of “Democracy” where the candidate who received 97% of the delegates should drop out “because he can’t win” 100 days before the election?

And the reason he can’t beat Trump is because he has significant mental decline. This has been obvious for quite some time.

Heck even the 60 minutes interview way back in 2022 showed his absolute decline when his response to the question was a total incomprehensible shit show. Yet we were told nothing to see here…disgraceful.

Speaker 1: (15:55)
How would you say your mental focus is?
President Joe Biden: (15:58)
Oh, it’s focused. Look, I have trouble even mentioning, even saying to myself in my own head the number of years. I no more think of myself as being as old as I am than fly. I mean, it’s just not… I haven’t observed anything in terms of… There’s not things I don’t do now that I did before, whether it’s physical or mental or anything else.

Trump’s mental decline has been far worse than Biden’s.

Now that’s all I am going to say as slowman has asked me to tone it down.

If you honestly believe this I feel sorry for you. Sure think Trump is a scumbag, criminal, rapist etc, but when you have to invent other reasons like you have it is genuinely concerning.

don’t worry he’ll have only the best people supporting him

I had to sit through 93 minutes of the man’s yammering last night, moving from one subject to the next.

Annoying as shit… absolutely.

Showing signs of mental decline… I don’t think so.

Riffing, ad libbing, going off prepared remarks, wanting to get a related point across and then not putting the words in their complete and correct order with the listener looking puzzled and not nodding knowingly that he understood the intent of the riff, is a form of mental decline. My wife and daughters remind me of this each time I go into story time.

Lol we have reached peak whataboutism…Biden has mental decline…yeah but so does Trump…sheesh…

Seriously there isn’t enough things for you to point out about Trump that are bad that you now have to try and argue he is also suffering mental decline…wowzers…talk about tit for tat…

And this displays the stupidity of these discussions and people’s blind allegiance. Up until recently the Dem faithful argue black and blue that there was nothing wrong with Biden despite the glaringly obvious.

Now that the polls have swung its Ok to admit he has a problem, you want to kick him out, and are trying to argue Trump is also mentally unfit?

It’s insane.
