Weekly accountability thread: December 23rd edition

How are you and how was your week? What are your goals for this coming week?

Hi everybody I’m doing this from speech to text.

I didn’t write out a lot of goals last week because my wrists were bugging me so much. The cortisone that was injected on December 12th has helped a little bit. I think I also have cubital tunnel, and that’s what’s causing some of the pain now.

I met the goals that I had in my head for last week, which were:

Get to 257 days of healthy coping.

Keep up the physical therapy routine.

Use my 2 minute pause skill which is one of the healthy coping skills.

Eat enough.

My goals for this coming week are

Get to 264 days of healthy coping In a row.

Keep up the physical therapy routine.

Eat 1700 calories a day. This is what we think is maintenance based on activity level (Activity level here really just means daily activity)

Hip update: Last week I went to the pool for the first time since the end of August. I didn’t dare try swimming because of what’s going on with my wrists and arms. I water walked for 20 minutes And did 1200 yards of flutter and breaststroke kick. I think the water walking was OK, but the kicking definitely hurt later in the day. So it’s too soon for kicking, which is OK. I know I’ll get back to it. In terms of water walking, I don’t intend to try that again for a bit because it’s still trying to do daily activity and the physical therapy strength exercises without pain. Adding water walking, as nice as it is, is just sort of extra movement right now that I don’t think is really helping. I’ll get there. The hip surgery I had has a six month recovery time. Tomorrow I hit week 10. Week 10 is still pretty early in the whole scheme of things. It’s like a third of the way there.

I think that’s been making me happy right now is I’ve been able to work on my novel little tiny bit because I can do some handwriting with my right hand. I have something like. Over 88 1/2 by 11 pages. I think in terms of book pages, that’s like double because it seems like book pages are like half the size of a regular piece of paper. So that’s a fun project.

Thank you to everyone who chimes in and reads the thread. These threads really help me and I hope they’re helping someone else.

My plan for last week didn’t really survive contact with the reality of the run-in to Xmas. Still, got some things done: 8k swim, 4hrs bike, 20k run; and got all my strength & rehab done. No achilles pain when running; just feel it a little bit first thing in the morning.

The idea of running a marathon seems a long way off. Now thinking I’ll probably defer than plan for a year.

No structured plan for the week ahead - will do SBR + strength when I can fit it in.

Have a great week everyone!
