up early to fly ME to OK today, hopeful being in OK is handle-able healthwise
I hope the move back to OK goes smoothly Dr TC and that you’re able to get into a good rhythm there.
My training week has some challenging workouts ahead but I’m trying to approach them with excitement instead of trepidation.
On the work front, I am trying to build something from the ground up, and I have my first call about that later today.
Last week I did some training but mostly ate chocolate: Swim: 7k, Bike: 4.5hrs, Run: 25k. No strength sessions but did my achilles rehab. Achilles still feeling ok - did a little bit of faster running with no reaction.
Next week is Week1 of 3 remaining in my strength focus block - back into the gym. Plus a slight run volume increase and the usual swim and bike sessions. And achilles rehab, of course.
Have a great week everyone!
hi fromOK!
265 days
today will make 38 weeks! and 266 is the area code of the island in ME I used to live on (still call it home)
Hi, TC. Are you OK? (Pun semi-intended.)
I got sick (respiratory) that kept me from doing that much on the treadmill, and have been having to deal with many non-constructive family issues, so I’ve fallen behind on the virtual trans-con, although (hopefully) not fatally so. (I’ll need to average a little over 12/day until the end of April, and am (virtually) in Colorado, starting from the east coast.) I’ve put off beginning training in the other sports as well due to these previously-mentioned demands.
My studying effectiveness has been intermittent, especially with inability to focus due to my stressors. I have done a bit of reading in (elementary) physics, as well as working on problem sets in classical mechanics, E&M, calculus, and abstract algebra, so something is getting done.
Unfortunately, practicing music has been negligible as well.
So I haven’t been very successful in getting things done lately. But I’ve made a list of what I can do to reduce/eliminate the issues disturbing my forward progress (with goal completion dates), which has been coming along (although I’m running a bit behind (as usual).) (Did someone say New Year’s resolutions?)
So what are my (self-only) goals for the year?
I’m holding onto the same goals that I hoped to complete by the end of this year (related to math, physics, and violin), except that I’ll have to give myself a bit more time (hopefully by the middle of next year) to complete them. Since they are quite ambitious I don’t want to give details unless/until I actually accomplish them.
As far as triathlon goes, I need to get in an Iron-distance in the next 22 months so I can have one in my 60s. (I have at least one each decade from my 20s to my 50s.) In reality I would like to do a multi-Iron this year, either one per day or continuous. This is my main reason for focusing on (SLOW) distance and not on speed; I’m also trying to tease out the foot problem that knocked me out on the run of my last 2 Decas. (If I’m lucky I don’t continue to have the problem.)
Upcoming (shorter-term) goals:
(1) Do what I can from my list to reduce stressors. (Time flexibility is needed, as we’re expecting about a foot of snow overnight in the DC area.)
(2) Incrementally catch up in the virtual trans-con.
(3) Continue progress with studying (currently focusing on the Feynman Lectures.)
(4) Don’t lose time with distractions, especially with regards to the internet.
Practicing music for me is temporarily on hold (although we’re scheduled for a rehearsal today with the local youth orchestra.) (Last concert went fine.)
As far as goals with others (you can lead a horse to water…):
(1) Make sure the kids do their studying and practicing. (I’m their violin teacher again for now.)
(2) Make more attempts to get the house on a reasonable schedule. (Last night was typical: I finally got the littles, 11 and 14, to go back to (and stay in) bed at 4 a.m. after an hour of cajoling.)
All right. I hope everybody is well. (Thinking especially of you, TC. Just throw SOMETHING up here so we know you’re all right. It’s so ‘not you’ not to post.) (Since my last posting I lost a (97-year-old) friend, and another had a seizure, so I worry a bit more right now.)
not ok, but not life threatening, just put up new post w explanation. Sorry for the silence, have been physically unabel to post due to pain
need speech to text for forum!!!
