One of those times when I really wish that I had a drone
I got as far up the dune as I could to capture this wonderful artwork created by the young man on the right
Although his friend said “you look like an idiot” (to which he replied “I don’t care”) I told the “artist” that I liked what he’d done and “you really could’ve just stopped at nine circles”

“Nine Circles of Hell?” I continued “Dante’s ‘Inferno?’ No? Okay. Good job, though!” #asseenonthebeach#asseendowntheshore
Random dream where I got in an argument with Fresh Prince of Bel Air age Will Smith as we were both trying to sell counterfeit Hal Higdon Marathon training plans. Not sure the market for knock off marathon training plans but it was a turf war.
No idea what seeded the dream. I think the last time I looked at one of his plans was like 1997 while cobbling together a training plan for my first marathon. Picking up two friends (one who I probably haven’t seen since the mid 2000s as he moved to California after college) for a gravel riding weekend. So maybe it was some sort of digging up the early 2000s.
My mom is retiring today! She teaches English Language Learners (used to be called “English as a second language, or ESL, but many students come with multiple languages… just not English, so ELL is more inclusive and notes that many students do have the richness that is multilingualism).
I got flowers on behalf of my brother and I, and delivered them to her at her school, which she liked a lot.
The florist is in the same store as a bakery; I frequent the place. The cake decorator, who I always say hi to and make conversation with for a few minutes (he is an amazing decorator and it’s fun to see what he’s working on) said “bye, sweetie!” when I left. That made me feel good. It was a very parent-ish “sweetie,” not a hit-on one.
That is so nice of you and your brother. Congratulations to your mom. I am sure she was emotional. I had my official retirement breakfast at my school on Tuesday, even though I retired in October. I thought I could make it through three of my friends/co-workers presentation in my honor without losing my composure. I was wrong.
