I was watching golf today and they had a flyover honoring Memorial Day week. They had a flyover with a C-47 in battle stripe. This is a stock photo, but that’s it
So cool that they’re still flying

Ran across an article about the Moon landing with some pics I’d never seen before.
my brother is scuba diving in Belize. He texted this AM “my average altitude in the past week has been negative.”
That’s cool.
I have an uncle who was a missionary to the indigenous people who live in the jungle. When he retired he opened a bed and breakfast and dive boat. I think he sold that and builds homes now. My dad went for a visit and talked about how hot and humid it was - and that was coming from Florida.
I’ve heard that the diving is incredible.
King Crimson guitarist confused why his balls were shaved after suffering a heart attack.
He shouldn’t have made that comment to the nurse. They have ways of getting you back.
Was sad to hear that there was a fatal black bear attack in Saskatchewan. Poor guy was only 27. Fortunately google confirms this is rare–24 black bear deaths in Canada between 1990-2023.
I was surprised to see that. Most mine sites have robust safety protocols.
The bear was shot/killed. I’m guessing there will be a necroscopy.
No mention of cubs (that I saw) which is the first thing I think of when they say it is a black bear.
I’m assuming they want to know if the bear was healthy and not brain-diseased or starving.
I’d also guess mama bear, and the cubs were just hidden.
Today I learned torches cut things and welders unite things.
I also learned what a flame weeder is.
I had to fly to Houston yesterday and this morning I get up and go downstairs around 5:45 AM to get coffee because they did not have any in the room. As I’m getting my coffee, a man. - probably late 40s dude, comes to the lobby area and proceeds to get a bottle of wine, three bottles of beer, and three bottles of water. The guy at the desk ask him if he needs wine glasses. Dude takes a minute and says oh, I guess so. I guess that’s a way to start a day.
This was the Moxy in downtown Houston. Total shit hotel. Not that big of a deal that the room is only about 250 ft.², but the bed was like a futon and the pillows were like pieces of paper. And then at 3 AM, actually 3:17 if you want to be exact, some dude starts yelling outside on the street. So I’ve been awake since 3:17 AM. Everyone in the office today said oh my God why did you stay at the Moxy? Because all the other hotels were like $500 a night because of some giant convention and the World Cup starting.
Yesterday afternoon I went out in the yard and noticed a blue jay on the ground near a fence gate. It let me get surprisingly close. When I was only a few feet away it flew off, but not before using its beak to peck (or something) a baby bird. The bird had a little bit of blue on its feathers, so I assumed that it was a blue jay baby.
I went back out about 30 minutes later to check on it and it was sitting up and alive. I left it alone, but came back a while later to check on it. This time, there was a dove right next to it, and the dove didn’t fly off. I immediately turned around and left. I went out two more times, including right at dark - and the dove was still with it.
Based on the blue feathers, I assume that it was a blue jay. All I can think is that the dove kind of adopted it. I went out this morning and it was gone. I checked a few minutes ago and saw a dove walking around the same area. It stayed there until I got fairly close.
EDIT: I checked online and it says that baby blue jays don’t have blue feathers. I kind of expected that since most colorful birds don’t have the colors until they are a bit older. I guess it could have been the Tyndall Effect that made them look blue.
TIL a group of sharks is called a shiver.
Love eating canned green beans. I love fresh too but for some reason I really like eating canned; Del Monte #1, Libby #2.
