Is broadcast still through the PTO app or are we finally having to pay to watch these races (at some point “free” coverage ends right?)?
I believe it will be streamed free on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFvx8sggdjk
Noone racing has the riding strength to be out of T1 close to LCB AND ride a strongly as she does. Learmonth will not be able to hold her wheel, and nor will Spivey (see all her T100s). So I hope Spivey’s been concentrating on getting her TT position and putting sustained power down in that position. This assumes we see the 2024 Miami/Singapore version of LCB.
Spivey’s run in Dubai was excellent and implies she can cope well in heat on foot unlike others who will wilt but I expect her to be down in the mid pack by T2.
I can see LCB being conservative in the swim: if she ‘drills’ the swim she might get a gap or with a couple of/3 others but will then pay for it. We saw both swims moderated like this last year.
Duffy and Waugh can both hold LCB’s feet, if they choose to, but I can’t see either contributing to that front pack’s bike speed.
Minutes back how about a Gentle/Derron/Lee/Sanchez combo chase pack with Byram catching them?
Pohle is a DNS: sickness. Dead annoying after she DNS’d her LLV wildcard last year too.
Spivey weakness has always been her run, why has it taken her to leave ITU to figure this out and start work on it.
I agree with Ajax, i think LCB and Learmonth could potentially gap everyone on the swim if they wanted, but its going to be a hot day, so id expect them not to go all out and Duffy, Waugh, Spivey and any other front packers will hang on.
This is sooooooooo good
Yeah lcb gapped everybody on the few world Tri races she did ( ok she actually did not but pesky facts are really annoying )
Lcb likely to lead but one would suspect the very least duffy and likely spivey to hang on apart from learmouth.
She’s not leaving ITU. Her Triathlete mag interview said that she’ll do WTCS, supertri, and T100 with an eye towards LA 2028.
I’m kinda shocked they haven’t gone to a full paid subscription model, but I also think when you do that you better feel confident you’ll actually get subscribers. I would assume at some point either they’ll have a subscription based model (like triathlon live) or broadcast partner setup (IM using Outside to broadcast the races and have a shitty “free” version and a likely better paid version).
So they’re down to 13 contracted women now for what is supposed to be a mandatory series opener.
Anyone in the UK who’s subscribed to TNT? How much is it? Im having difficulty on the app finding anyway to subscribe at the moment, just spins when I try and click on anything (on a samsung phone)
I think I did it through the Discovery+ site.
That’s a pretty harsh take, I guess you are comparing her to the top 5 to 8 women runners in ITU? For someone that didnt come from any running background(was a college swimmer) she has come a long way to be able to get top 4 in so many of the biggest ITU races throughout her carer. And her run in non draft is a lot more effective as witnessed in the T100 final where she only was out split by Duffy.
If you want to pick on something to improve, then it would be her TT cycling. Which of course she just began less than a year ago. I would presume this is one of her biggest focuses over the off season, and her swimming is fine. She not only never gets dropped in the much more highly competitive ITU swims, she often is top 5 out of the water. Think she even drilled most of the T100 swims to cause a break, and that just doesnt leave you…
From what I remember of these hot water/air races, most of the athletes are dialing down the intensity beginning in the water. Hopefully someone goes fast enough to get that break of Lucy and ITU swimmers off the front with a gap though, but I recall the men all staying together because no one would drill it at the start.
First race out is always exciting, we have no idea on form, injury status road blocks, and just who is ready to drill it in this oppressive shit heat of a race. Can’t wait!!
£31 a month, up from £7 a month since start of Feb
I cancelled my subscription, as have many other cycling fans in the UK. That price increase was ridiculous
I can’t remember a single race where Jessica Learmonth didn’t drill the living dickens out of the swim and start of the bike so if she’s on any kind of swim form at all I anticipate her hammering it from the get go.
Those subs via Disco+.
I too cancelled my sub. Disappointed to miss all the spring classics.
Well Salthouse, despite being injured has travelled to Singapore, which satisfies the contract (attendance required unless a note from matron obtained). Same as Pearson who is there.
Yep, this is what I thought, im not sure im going to pay this, does the race pop up on Youtube in full straight after the race, I can’t remember?
