She does a great reveal, does India, the tri suit one was great!
Elite bike reveal. She’s the best.
I fully expect Jess “drill the swim” Learmonth to either be leading LJB or right on her along with Flora and perhaps Spivey. After that I guess “we will see”. She’‘’ definitely keep the swim fast which may create a bigger than 1:30ish gap back to Ash Gentle.
The girls are waaaaay more fun…
I’ll be curious if Spivey can hang on if the swim goes that just extra top knotch effort if her training over the last few months has been geared toward improving her run. If she can make that front group the whole way, maybe she can sit in for majority of the bike (or atleast the main group) and give herself a really good opening T100 race.
They have the Singapore Marathon in December. It has an elite field. It was about 30 degrees and high humidity there in the edition just gone I think. People run suuuuuper slow there compared to most mara’s. Geoffrey Yegon won it this year in 2:16:06 and he’s a 59:44 half marathoner if that gives you any idea!!
They also held the 2019 Marathon World Championships in Doha where it was like crazy hot, 30+ degrees on average at the time and high humidity and it got won in 2:10.
Generally speaking the big mara’s try to make their courses fast & conditions as perfect as they can to attract crowds but really making conditions brutal and hard is part of every endurance sport. Think about cycling… nothing particularly “safe” about 3 weeks of riding 150ish km per day with mountains and wet descents, etc. or ultra running through deserts and mountains. It’s kind of just what’s happened forever in this world.
Just watched it. Looks like Leo is coming to showcase his new bike but will not put in an effort and risk injury.

Ironman Malaysia every year…
Laguna Phuket every year…
The list goes on…
What is hot and dangerous for some is just normal for others.

A couple of weeks age I was riding around the wheat belt of West Oz and stayed at the Quairading Caravan Park.My room overlooked the local footy ground and the regional ALF league had a game on between two of the local towns…It was 38C.
Two days later I rode from the town of York,90k to Perth Airport and my Garmin registered an average temp of 39C with a peak of 45C. I didn’t die.
I’ll be attending the race in Singapore as a spectator. Looking forward to see how the swim/run firepower in this men’s field pans out.
Can Sam Long go legend and bridge his way to the podium again? I’ll be Yo Yo Yo’ing him to this tall task.
She swam with them in Leeds (2021) and has been front pack/leader in T100 races so far.
I think the question is whether the combination of Jesse + LCB will go super turbo early on in an attempt to shed some clingers on and might or might not shed a run focused Spivey.
More the point has Spivey gone into run improvement mode and then if she has what does that do to her swim/bike ability. If she’s 2% off on the swim because she’s potentially worked the run, does that have an impact on that race roster, when the front group may not be as big as it is in itu events.
Has spivey raced T100 already? If so I totally missed it (although last fall was a bit of blur with the ncaa season I was coaching)
Has spivey raced T100 already?
Taylor did Ibiza, Lake Las Vegas and Dubai last year and swam front pack. That said, LCB did not compete in any of these.
Thanks…with Learmonth and LCB, I see a very similiar strategy with how you suggested, the swim will be “drilled”. With fewer athletes, 1-2 less extra feet may be the difference in a bit of a gap forming or not. So yes Spivey is generally a front pack swimmer, my point more was, has an “offseason” of run training (if that’s been the focus?) be the difference if the swim is 2% spicier than other T100 events.
Run improvement mode? Spivey had the second fastest run at T100 Dubai last year… 90seconds back of Duffy but ahead of Gentle, Derron, Matthews.
So then she needs to work on her bike then if she had the 2nd fastest run and still only got 5th. Which goes back to my point…if she’s working on other things to improve herself this offseason, will that make a difference if this race roster of stronger athletes “drills” the swim. It may be a moot point, I was more meaning if she’s working on other things in the off season, what does that do for a race strategy.
She led out the swim in Ibiza and was second out of the water in Vegas and Dubai, ahead of Knibb and Duffy on both occasions. She also swam those events without a swim skin, wearing just her race suit, which suggests some confidence in her swim.
She may well hold their feet easily. In any case, in just a few more days “we will see”![]()
