Sure reduced Putin’s prison population though…
Sure, and wonderful Stalin lowered the population in the USSR by a cool 40 million.
But not a club l have any interest in joining.
I remember US Marines coming to my school in 04 asking for us to continue to “Support our troops.”
I asked what they needed most. The Marines responded with “Clorox Wipes, and Oreos.”
I think with the Ruskies this is something bit different.
Literally cannon fodder, or drone fodder as the case may be.
This is interesting, Ukraine faked the assassination of one of the Russian commanders fighting for them against Putin in order to pocket half a million dollars from Russian intelligence services.
The Special Military Operation has now lasted longer then WW2 in USSR. Germany attacked…Soviets took Berlin…Kyiv is still there, as is Zelenski and the Ukrainian nation after 4 years.
Isn’t that just the way things are these days. Just can’t do things at the scale they did in the mid twentieth century. Used to create 1,000s of miles of freeway in a year, now it takes decades to create a few feet of new road. You would think all our advances in computers and AI would increase productivity, but maybe all those Russian soldiers are just wasting time on the socials. Only country that do anything at scale anymore is China, which might get a little scary if this metaphor plays out.
My understanding is the drones have made it, at least in the context of this war, impossible to conduct maneuver warfare and really any sort of large scale operation. So it’s small teams of a few men taking tree lines or buiidings and inching forward.
There’s also the issue that planes, helicopters and ships are so expensive and can be taken out with low cost counter measures that using them Is a big risk. Thus Ukraine which doesn’t even have a navy to speak of has driven the Russian navy from the black sea, and there seems to be little to no air support for ground operations, other than drones.
An interesting read
I hope this is a joke.
But l get the sense that it’s not:
(Although l imagine that it is to hide a soldier’s heat signature, not for weather protection
)
If there is an opportunity to cash in, somebody will figure it out and make money.
A sad look at the state of affairs.
The Ukrainian war cemetery that can’t stop growing
Thought that was a great pic.
