Yup, Taylor may have been letting herself slowly get into her power. That wouldnât be good for everyone else since no one really gained anything on her during that time.

I suspect that Taylor is riding nice controlled even watts and will maintain them right to the end of the ride while other over eager chasers may well wilt as the day goes on.

Yup. But I note that both Perterer and Matthews are riding almost as fast. After a poor swim (massive bonus of Zilinskasâ feet for Knibb), Matthews has lost 61 seconds in 56km on the bike. Sheâs not noted for âwiltingâ sfaik.
More likely Knibb will up the watts for the second lap.
To rephrase Lange: low experience, knows the âwhyâ and âall the wattsâ.
But then again sheâs never biked this hard. The non wetsuit swim didnât seem to suit her nearly as well as her fast races with a wetsuit.

One thing I noticed among the athletes, is that most of them look wet and many are dripping. Except for Rudy and Taylor. Rudy is dry as a bone, and I suppose that is his strength. Just sit back, ride his own race, and let others make mistakes to sweep them up later. But of course letting the Norwegian train go up ahead is a bit scary if your goal is to win, hard to imagine both of them blowing up.
And Knibb is just doing her thing, crushed the swim, ease into the bike, and now punish the entire field with minutes at each check point. Kat is doing her thing, just that her thing is a zip code behind Taylor, and like Rudy has to depend on a malfunction of some sort to be the winner on the dayâŚ

Is Sodaro out sick? I was hoping she would have a solid day. Woodlands course with the heat and humidity would be in her favour.

Comments on the racing so far?
The expected big riders Kallin, Wurf and Chevalier who lost time in the first 45 km are now (edit) gaining on the front group.
Hanson rode with Chevalier for a while but has lost time in the last km, yet he is not that far off. He also gains from such a good field where he can ride with guys like Hamilton or Mennesson who are great cyclists.
She caught a bug from her 4 year old.
The front pack is still 14 deep. Kallin is 37 seconds from the front. Wurf and Chevalier, 1â 40 behind the leaders but only 1â20 from the back of this pack
Will be interesting to see how many of those 14 in the front have pushed too hard once the running begins!
