Knibb and Zilinskas have caught two male pros: a happy little quartet!
Notably Knibb has not dropped Zilinskas so that says to me that Knibb is (deliberately) riding well under the power should could sustain (based on her 70.3 bike pace). Further evidence: Matthews is matching Knibb’s times/pace (only a second a km slower).

Food die would improve the Maurten product by some margin…Mortal probably has a million in them haha

Wonder what happened to Marquardt. Almost 10 min back.

Couple of surprises, Marquardt is way way down like 49th 9 minutes behind riding 10 minutes slower through the first 23 km. Mechanical or cramps like in Taupo. Robert Wilkowiecki also having a bad race. He seems to have lost several steps since his heart issues last year.
Also the front riding faster than the riders in the back. The pack looked really close on the narrow road, and officiating is tough on such roads.

Serious question - do the commentary team know there is a tracker app where they can check information before sounding completely incompetent?
It’s not like it’s such fast moving action that they need to know immediately what’s going on.

Perterer and Matthews riding together. Perterer has gained 20+ seconds on Knibb from 12 to 17 miles.
Hope he asked them not to deport Lionel.
