What calf sleeves do they all seem to be wearing?

Why canā€™t any of the comentators pronounce Pierreā€¦? Piaray, Piaree, wtfā€¦

If thatā€™s your biggest problem things must go well :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Anyone know what happened to Ruth Astle? Iā€™m just following on the tracker.

Apparently sheā€™s still out there but run/walking her way through the course. Not over her injury by the sounds of it.

Pretty boring race at this point. There are 3 ladies racing. Everybody else either didnā€™t start, had race issues or is fighting injuries.

Interesting, tracker shows her ā€œlocation unknownā€

Itā€™s tough but as a heavy rider, going into the anaerobic zone to make a pass on an unexpected hill/slow rider who only picks up effort on hills is extremely frustrating. Why donā€™t they pace like triathletes instead of cyclists?

Thats my excuse anyhoo.

Both favourites out after the bookies closeā€¦no nothing to see hereā€¦

Phillipp is wearing these Castelli ones, I think. PierrĆ© is wearing these Compressport ones. I canā€™t tell which ones Sodaro is wearing (and Matthews isnā€™t wearing any).

Thanks everyone for the play by play posts. Bummer that Haug out, Lucy never started, Daniela retired. But sounds like Kat Mathews is doing well after her horrific crash two years ago. She would be my sentimental favourite.

Oh crap ā€¦I jinxed here. I open Outside streaming and sheā€™s walking!!!

Neck and neck out of T2 for 11km

We have different definitions of boring

Now Kat is cramping and walking. I donā€™t think she has silver sealed on Chelsea even with a big gap starting lap 4.

Yesterday I caught up with one of the lead females on the flat and started to overtake shortly before a hill. She dropped me like a stone on the uphill. This being close to the female leads, the referee was right there and I immediately got the penalty.

Very frustrating. Lesson learned: donā€™t try to overtake smaller riders if you canā€™t see whatā€™s around next turn.

Or just stay away from the lead women because thereā€™s no referees for mid-pack

She has 10 mins. She will hold on.

A little surprised she was apparently using a TPU tube as a spare. Iā€™m a huge fan, but not as spare ones as theyā€™re are slippery AF and harder to put in than standard butyl ones. Also if there was a problem with the tyre, a butyl spare might provide more confidence than a paper thin TPU one?

I donā€™t know, Haug seems to have those bizarre gear problems sometimes. Remember how she had her spare tube weirdly attached to the outside of the bike in Singapore 2023 and sure enough, it unraveled, getting wrapped around the wheel and stuck between the disc and casette?

A lot of drama but Laura deserves more coverage, she is looking in sweet form at the front

From the previous comments it could have been a 2nd spare. Also TPU is lighter and they are in Nice, so perhaps not that strange.

I donā€™t understand why the coverage doesnā€™t go down to the announcer onsite during the finish. I want to hear that crowd, the energy, and the raw emotion of the winner crossing the finish line. Why they donā€™t do this, is beyond me.

In the GTN video, they said she is using TPU as her main tube, not just the spare.
