Proper racing? The two women that would have liked Kona are leading here. This event has no prestige.
It’s an assisted swim, a boring climb and then a run that might as well be on the track.
Bring back the energy lab.

More than 7 Motobikes around the front three and filming from the front… worst moto pacing I have ever seen
I get that there’s a judgement call in the instructions followed by the referees - but that wasn’t my question/point at all. I wasn’t questioning the behaviour of the judges. I was questioning the behaviour of the athletes.
Pro athletes should still make an effort to follow the rules and avoid foul. They shouldn’t rely on the foul not leading to a penalty because it didn’t provide an advantage. I don’t see how going up Col de l’Ecre (a fairly constant 5% climb without hairpins) could be an excuse for not being able to keep the distance from the athlete in front of you when race rangers have such a broad buffer zone.
Per rules, you’re supposed to make a pass if you enter the drafting area. You’re not supposed to hit the brakes.
On the live stream there was a moment when some athletes seemed to keep triggering the flashing red and simply hit the brakes. Shouldn’t the commentators - at the very least - have discussed whether that was the correct behaviour?
Now of course we know most AGs would always hit the brakes rather than make the pass and that’s one of the many reasons some races are a draft fest. I would have at least expected the pros to show the correct behaviour.
So Anne on commentary just said that – the tire had such a huge cut the replacement tube blew as well.
Neutral support followed the top 10 riders out of transition, and then the support car was waiting at 5 km (not enough room in town), so no neutral support meant she was stuck.
Brutal luck.
One that was a bit conspiratorial might suggest someone slashed her tire
Seems insane there isn’t a mechanic that stays in transition.
First ever T100 mention on an IM broadcast
Eh, Rinny’s said it a couple of times before.
Loved Welchie’s “let’s throw it back to Boulder —errr, I mean the studio” coming out of that.
Kat is playing this bike extremely smart. Seems to be riding her own pace/power up the climbs and riding back to (and around) Laura Philipp on the descents. Got to wonder if Philipp has been burning some serious matches on the climbs or whether the weight difference between them explains the difference in uphill pace.
A little surprised Anne wasn’t on tubeless.
Cameraman is wreckless getting that close to her. Let here ride and corner without worrying about that motorcycle.
Indeed - but if the cut was really as big as she mentions, would it have mattered?
Question remains: How do you get such a big cut just 200m into the bike … ?
Poor security
Ugh … somebody must have thought about that
I mean… a sharp rock, pot hole, edge of a drain cover, or piece of glass could easily explain it. It’s hardly a conspiracy theory. Shit happens sometimes, sucks for her.
Exactly. She said it was happening as she was tightening her shoes up. So could have been as simple as a momentary lapse in line judgment, run something over and race is done. Been there, done that, just not nearly in as high profile of a moment.
Way to kill the conspiracy theory Ryan come ON!
That is super bad luck, but shit happens in racing
Conspiracy theories live in the LR only, please and thank you
hahaha! You have fun with the LR yourself now don´t count me in on that, please
Back to the topic at hand:
Canyon’s gonna be really happy with that shot of Matthews / Philipp running through transition together with giant Canyon logos on their front. If that’s not a banner ad by Tuesday they have done marketing wrong.
