If he gets that fixed and the tracker is accurate that’s a power house chase pack. They are well back at 2:24 down but Magnus, Long, Wurf & Foley. They could work together to save their legs and chip into Sanders leader.
Nothing against the women’s race, but Ironmanlive & Outside have what could possibly be Lionel’s ultimate performance unfolding and that are barely showing it.

Magnus just has a genetically higher swim ceiling due to body type or other factors.
There’s no way to know that especially since none of them even get remotely near their “ceiling” with the amount of swimming they train.
If you put Magnus, Lionel, and Sam on the exact same swim program for a year I’d bet Magnus would still be the best of the three.
Again, no way to know that. You can’t train every athlete with the exact same swim program and expect that they will all adapt the same. Different athletes need different programs to reach their potential.

The mechanics have been on it. They just showed MD getting dropped by Dubrick but he looks off. Maybe the new tire isn’t good or he is struggling but either way looks like he’s going the wrong direction.

nahhh I think the tracker is fucked. Wonder if it’s something to do with the GPSs in their kits. Half the men’s field is missing. Ironman makes it impossible to watch these races. This is TERRIBLE!!
The timing chips are having an issue. They are using GPS info on screen so it’s not ideal. Next timing mat is likely inbound as Sanders is at Snow Canyon and they likely have one at bottom and top. Hopefully those catch all the athletes so we can get a better view of standings.

Even without having to suffer the Outside coverage (am in UK) this is worse than ever! How bad would Greg Welch have to be before he is replaced? Used to love him when he raced but now feel like I could happily punch him every time he speaks!

Paula just passed Lopes. On screen and commentating stopped to cover the pass. Dani did a good job recognizing the moment and reacting.
They are clearly suffering to cover with the timing mat issues.
