This Sunday is stacked with triathlon. IM has 7 events today alone including 4 pro races (two at each distance). And challenge is warming up to Roth next week with a love streamed 70.3 with amongst others Sam long today as well! Place your bets and enjoy!
Baekkegaard and Pallant win the European 70.3 at Elsinore. Gentle and Lee, and Taagholt and Dapena on the podium with them. Both races won on the run, iykwim.

He is def a good runner. He was 15th @ Oceanside. I'm am extremely impressed with his bike here, since he rode a 2:17 in Oceanside and here he rode only 1 minute slower than Beals.

Edit: This is his first year as a pro, I believe he did 3:58 last year in Acapulco in the 18-24 category, but I'm not sure because it says he raced as an MPRO but there is not pro field in the race.

By American bias is showing but is that performance legit? 1:54 is insane

No, it's just that the bike course is 5 miles (or 8 km) short: https://www.strava.com/activities/7371898936

I guess that the NP of 340 watts speaks for itself, the guy can ride and that's the end of it.

For those of you marveling at how quickly he fixed his flat, while it is possible for a 3 min flat fix, he got a new wheel instead as per the on-course pictures

When ‘a guy’ happens to be Frederik Funk, defending champion and insanely strong cyclist, yeah sounds legit to me.

But perhaps that’s my European bias showing ;)

He didn't change it. He got a new front wheel from race support.

Does IM or anyone else keep some kind of record of winners, e.g. how many 70.3 wins etc. Like you would find in tennis?
Lionel must be up there in the 70.3 distance

What kind of wheel did they give him? Curious

Hard to tell exactly what wheel from the photos/videos on instagram but it was a very shallow front wheel. Definitely wasn't an HED or a big mfg. And it probably had a shitty tire on it too (crr wise).

Not that I know of, in terms of ranking by how many wins an athlete got.

The PTO shows you an athlete's results, but the oldest ones are from 2014: https://stats.protriathletes.org/athlete/lionel-sanders

Obstri has Lionel's results as early as 2010. I stopped counting 70.3 wins at 20 in 2018 (starting from 2010) because I got bored. The last 12 months are behind a paywall.

Unfortunate Flora didn't get to race today. Bike is stuck in Denver according to her instagram. That really sucks for her! Should tell the airline they owe her a few $1000 and a Worlds slot.

She'd have won on a borrowed road bike, if she'd wanted to.

Ya this. Could have borrowed or rented one, got a quick fit to get it close and won. Or assuming she would have won. Not to take anything away from Tamara. Would have got slot though regardless

So, she was there, but her bike didn't make it? That sounds crazy that she wasn't able to find a bike to race on. She could have probably won on a darn road bike.

Looks like it was a great battle for 2nd to 4th, just 40 seconds between them (Hernandez, Laundry, Beals), all 3 great runners, would have been exciting to watch

There'd be a fair few road bikes 90 minutes down the road in Montreal, not needed after the Women's eliminator on Saturday afternoon. She might know some of the athletes involved.

That's what it sounds like. Does seem a little crazy that she couldn't find a bike to ride. I know it would have to be specialized but come on. Plus she's used to riding a roadie normally it's not like it would be different for her.
