Easy to see why Rep. Cheney is getting trounced. She’s way out of her depth.

Every clip I saw was worse than the one prior, that is a nice summary.

There was only one candidate on that stage that could complete a high school equivalency test and that was also the only one with any understanding of the magnitude of the job to which they are hope to be elected.

We are a non-serious country with far, far too many swept up in the movement lead by the orange ass clown.

Suffer Well.

The Democrats in WY need to make sure there is a sane person as their Rep.

If they are going to elect people like that we may need to revoke their ability to have two Senators representing just over a half million people. The founding fathers did not intend for us to elect the dumbest people possible as Senators. Maybe we can get Roger Goodell to step in with a multi-year suspension.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

Obviously edited to make it appear horrific, but yeah, it ain't good.

I don't like Cheney's chances against Hageman and the rest of them are just making fools of themselves.

I'm hoping (but not expecting) that Papa Dick has some clout to turn this thing around in my home State by Aug 16.

I just watched her closing statement. It was fantastic.

Hopefully someone here will post that statement as it needs to be heard by the entire GOP. Sadly 99% of the GOP is too far gone at this point.

Watch the debate for the sole Congressional Rep for WY in it's entirety. It's not much better.

Hageman goes full Hunter Biden in the first 40 secs of her opening statement.

Hageman? Yep. And fully endorsed by the tiny handed Cheeto.

She's clearly had some brain damage (the same that afflicted most of the GOP) since 2016 when she referred to him as the "weakest candidate" and "somebody who is racist and xenophobic."

I think 90% of the routine posters on this site could have done a better job in this debate with 10 minutes prep work than these folks did. Honestly, what are they smoking in Wyoming if they think any of these candidates are better than Cheney? I'm no fan of hers, but her defense of her constitutional duty has been top notch.

See, this is why us moderate Republicans won’t vote for a Democrat. We keep getting called names. First, we are deplorables. Now, we are pieces of shit. If you would just stop with the attacks and run a centrist candidate, we’d consider a vote for a (D) or even an (R) based in the inner-Keiper belt reality. Instead, you are forcing us to vote for brain-dead candidates, who live their lives contrary to every moral we claim to hold dear. You’ve left us with no choice.

I didn't realize until now that Wyoming only has a single Rep. So there's no urban vs. rural split.

And looking at the party enrollment numbers, 70% is weak performance.

196,170 registered GOP vs. 45,881 registered Democrats (source). A straight party-line vote would be about 80%. Possibly poor GOP turnout. Or maybe all the independents (of which there a good number) vote for Biden.

Not far over a 1/4 M total registered voters is hard to fathom for me as a Californian. I think my *neighorhood* has more registered voters than that.

ROGO

Republicans on glue often, a “soft” ROGO is a republican on glue occasionally.

FROGO is fake republican on glue often/occasionally….like Trump, don jr, Rudy, linden, Sydney Powell etc are FROGO’s.

I thought these terms were a common rebuttal down there against being called a RINO????

I heard it on Twitter/social media months ago and thought it was amusing.

There's a guy down the road from us whom I only know of because he tried to cheat my wife's brother (veterinarian) on a cattle deal. He's had Trump signs up on his property entrance gate since I moved down there in October 2020. One of those was a post-election sign from the Trump org. that read "He won and we know it!".

I noticed this week his Trump signs are all gone. I don't know if this was his own doing or if someone got tired of looking at it, but it's not the kind of neighborhood where people are inclined to mess with other people's property, so I'm guessing he took them down.

Maybe the tide is starting to turn? We can hope.

I don't know how it works down there but here any candidate can put up signs on public property. So having the most signs doesn't mean anything. However, having the most signs on private properties does mean something.

Yes, they desantis. It is a dance move where you constantly move to the right.

j/k - I had typed something, changed it but forgot to correct the wording.

They commented that they really liked Desantis.

I thought perhaps Desantis suddenly went woke and wanted to use they as a gender neutral pronoun

She won the roadside sign count that I just conducted. I am pleased to report that no Trump signs were seen.

I feel like I have started seeing less and less Trump signs as well. However there is one relatively new one handing from a person’s apartment balcony that I see every day I ride to work. It says “Trump Won. Democrats Cheat”

While the sign itself isn’t really out of place in these parts. There are two things that made me laugh each time I see it. (1) right next to it is a sign that says ‘turn off the news and love your neighbor’ and (2) the apartment complex is a HUD low-income, rent assistance housing complex. This is a program that Trump tried ro make cuts to every year he was in office. In his last year in office I think he was looking at cutting the HUf budget by $9.6 billion. So if Trump had his way this guy and his family would be homeless and he wouldn’t have a nice balcony in which to hang his big-ass trump flag

It’s being reported that Joe Rogan has declined offers to host him on his podcast, saying “I don’t want to help him.”

I hope that’s true. Rogan, given his reach, demographic and influence, is the exactly the kind of guy who can help turn the tide with very little personal or professional consequence.

Given his history of guests, it’s a bit of a weird stand to take at this point, although he’s been relatively consistent about Trump. The reasoning is off to me. Also, I think his demographic has also shifted a bit. You can’t go from supporting Bernie to Desantis and expect to keep the same listeners.

This piece from the article has me a bit confused. Any idea who he may be talking about?
Rogan gave his candid impression about the former president, describing him as "such a polarizing figure that so many people felt like they could abandon their own ethics and morals and principles just to attack him and anybody who supports him because he is an existential threat to democracy itself."

Over the long weekend, I went for a motorcycle ride up into SE Wisconsin (Kenosha Co). Been a while since I was up that way, but I recall seeing all kinds of Trump signs/banners/flags. This time, I was quite pleasantly surprised to count only 2 - one was a ~3'x5' generic sign, and the other was a Trump 2024 flag with "Take America Back Again" on it (TABA?). Seems like sort of a 'shoot yourself in the foot' kind of slogan, given 1/6 and the exponentially growing pile of evidence against the bloated POS.

I think it would be naive to think anything has changed. The only place these people went is back into hiding. Those signs will be back up if Trump gets through unscathed and runs again. Total exoneration.

Sadly, I think that you are right. Those signs will come back out if he announces another run.

There is a local hardware place nearby that has Trump 2024 signs along his fence. He used to have Impeach Biden and a number of other signs and placards. I have been debating on whether or not to quit doing business with them since they support trump after Jan 6.

Well that certainly got under his onion skin-thin orange peel. Hard to know if this is real or satire, the line is all but invisible to me lately.

That's satire. This is real.

There was a National forest for a good bit and there were no signs of any campaign support there. My guess would be private ownership was where signs were seen. Why do you ask?

I don't know how it works down there but here any candidate can put up signs on public property. So having the most signs doesn't mean anything. However, having the most signs on private properties does mean something.

The return trip allowed for a more thorough yet still meaningless analysis. I saw more pronghorns than all campaign signs. I saw more cattle than houses and people combined. All of the "Cheney for Wyoming" signs I did see were all within the city limits of Laramie on front lawns. Laramie is home to the University of Wyoming. I saw only one competitor's sign. It was along the interstate highway just outside of Cheyenne, it was a full billboard Dump Cheney sign by Hagemen that included reference to being paid for by a PAC with Trump strings.

I attended the Saratoga, Wy 4 July parade and the only politics on display there was for all of the local candidates. It seems the locals there don't even know or care of this coming federal election.

I assume that you drove through Centennial to Saratoga? How does that area look after the fire 2 years ago?

My wife and I drove through there and she fell in love with it. It saddened us to learn that it had been hit by the fire.

The fire was south of there. Nothing along 130 was affected as I recall. (I was through there last year).

yes ,it is as 307 reports. I saw no evidence of recent fire damage along rt 130. It does look like the pine trees are suffering disease though. Next time through you should stop in Encampment, another very small once mining town and farm village of original homesteaders, and visit the town's museum. It is staffed with local youth who provide a guided tour through it. For a small town their not so little museum of assorted buildings is quite impressive.

Voting turnout seemed to be quite good this morning. Hoping for an unlikely comeback win for Cheney.

It wouldn't completely shock me to see Cheney do well based on what I see locally. Unfortunately, I think the more rural areas of the state will be heavily weighted Trump/Hageman.

Predicting Trump/Hageman but holding out hope for Cheney.

I'm in a really weird state rooting for a Cheney.

But I would bet she loses at least 60/40

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

She's going to get crushed.

Each time an anti-Trump GOP candidate loses big it illustrates over and over how misguided Republicans are in thinking Trump doesn't still own the GOP. They are going to have to do something to take back the party. It isn't just automagically going to happen on its own.

I believe that they are praying, very quietly, that the criminal Justice system takes him down. All the wanna-be Presidents would love that, but all of them will run for office on the “Trump was railroaded/political prisoner” crap for years to come. Some would run for President with “I’ll pardon Trump” as a campaign promise. Maybe they all would. I see that as a “Raise your hand if…” question in a primary debate and anyone who wouldn’t pardon him is doomed.

You are probably correct. Sadly, had they done the right thing and convicted him on either of his impeachments, there would have been some short term blowback but his influence would decline and the base would come back. It's not like they're going to vote for Democrats.
