Mad Alchemy is the best, by far. Their medium hot is just perfect for 50-60 degree rainy rides, their Hot is VERY HOT—sub 50 degree rides in the damp. Their seasonal “flavours” are awesome—Russian Tea & some of their coffee remedies are downright tasty (smelling).
Put them on AFTER you are completely dressed, and then double-wash your hands.
Unlike some of the other embros, the stuff comes off with soap & water. Post ride-warmth is great, though a bit disconcerting the first time out. A hot shower + scrubbie + soap & its gone, with just a lingering warmth.
By far my favorite part of winter training.
+1 on Mad Alchemy.
I use the medium stuff during cold/wet rides and for cyclocross and it is fantastic. The strongest stuff is crazy hot!
Their chamois cream is the best stuff going too.

Tiger blood.
Much of their stuff is over priced and hyped, but Rapha’s embrocation is one of the best I have used. It’s only offered in 1 heat ‘level’ which I’d describe as medium, but it smells amazing, is long lasting and does not stain like some others I have used.

The key for me, was bring a latex glove to races when applying and then throwing it away…Touch your junk or eyes and look out!
Their chamois cream is the best stuff going too.
Agree to disagree. I think their cc is about the weakest on the market—too liquidy & not nearly enough “lube factor”.
Good advice for the latex gloves while on the road. I was going thru 6-8 wet wipes just to get the stuff off my hands. Nice solution!
I always found that some water in the hands then drying on a towel got rid of any excess…also, put some on your lower back, feels gooood. Lastly, apply after you put on your shorts/bib
I have not tried Mad Alchemy, but I use Routine Leg Works Embro, and I find that helps loosen up my legs and back even in the summer. It is warm, not hot, but really gets deep.
I found even the medium too hot for me. If I were to do it again, I’d go “Gentlemens blend” or something similar. I did like the Mad Alchemy more than DZ’s " In Heat".
The biggest deterrent for me was how badly it stung in the shower when you were washing it off.
YMMV
I think the DZ stuff is garbage, it also smells like disinfectant, versus the others (Mad Alchemy, Rapha) which, while still pungent, were pleasant smelling.
Do you ever get clumps of Mad Alchemy behind your knee?
I use ziploc bags and am careful to not apply too much especially around the back of my knee, but it still tends to always be on FIRE! Like painfully so if its not windy.
Other then that love it!
Thanks for giving us a shot.
We are trying hard to getting things off the ground so I appreciate any feedback.
Our chamois cream will be coming out soon so we’ll have more to offer then just the embro.
Feel free to hit me up with any questions and if anyone wants to try it use the promo code slowtwitch and you’ll get free shipping.

mad alchemy is da bomb
.
I used MA about a dozen times then all of a sudden started breaking out in a rash. I used the DZ with no problems. Might try MA again.
I .also, put some on your lower back, feels gooood.)
Another vote for Mad Alchemy, but watch out if you put it on your back and then start sweating a lot…you’ll feel like there are flames coming out of your back!
Alternate between Assos and DZ. Assos at home cause its a big tub, DZ when travelling cause its a smaller tube. Like them both although would pick DZ if I had to make a choice.
Thanks for the free shipping code - I just ordered a jar of your product. Dumb question, but, can you put it on under long cycling pants or is it just for bare legs?
small company, great stuff, dude is a bike racer and triathlete…show some love for the cottage industry guy…yes, a shameless pitch
