Yet, there has been no mention of Michael Phelps on the cover Men’s Journal (July 2007) in nothing but his speedo. OMG! A men’s magazine with a nearly naked world-class MALE athlete on the cover!

I saw that just this morning! And wow!!!
Because he swims in his speedo, and the article (from what I saw on the cover) is about how he’s the world’s greatest athlete, not about how fuckable he is.
There definitely is a double standard. When a woman does it they are being objectified, when a man does it it’s ok for all the ladies to say “Oooh, hot, I like it!”
Remember a while back when Record10Carbon posted that picture of Ted McGregor and all the girls on the forum were going crazy? Could you imagine the response if he posted a picture of a woman and guys were making the same comments?
Also, you don’t here any fathers saying “Now I have to sit down with my son and explain why a man might pose in so little clothing” like people do when it’s a woman and they have to explain it to their daughters.
Actually, I thought (hoped) everybody had finally stopped talking about her.

The Amandar Beard thread turned into the “I’m a better parent then you” and “playboy causes blindness and global warming” thread in about 20 posts. I am suprised it didn’t get kicked to the Lavender Room along time ago.

Any article about being the best athlete is also about how fuckable a guy is. Just like any article about the richest guy, or the biggest rock star.

Why isn’t everyone bothered by the fact that Michael Phelps was given the title “worlds greatest athlete”?!? What about how he got a DUI at 19 right after the olympics. He also looks like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. My friends and I have talked about the Mens Journal cover and we were bothered by it, because there are MUCH better athletes in the world than Michael Phelps.
