golf is a GAME not a sport!
What about Lance? Mark Allen? Dave Scott? Yes, they are all retired, but they all play an important role on their sports. I could also name talented runners. Ryan Hall is bringing the americans back into the field of distance running! Or what about Tony Hawk and skateboarding or Dave Mirra and BMX? They both have entire market lines! Andre Agassi? My point is, there are more GREAT athletes in the world than young Michael Phelps. If he is just as good in 10 years then he earns the right to don title of ‘Worlds Greatest Athlete’!
And, no I would never say Tiger Woods. Some how I just cant give -hitting a ball and then chasing it, then hitting a ball again and see who gets in the hole with the least amount of hits - as a sport.
Ryan Hall is from my hometown…That kid can FLY!
Not my opinion.
There definitely is a double standard. When a woman does it they are being objectified, when a man does it it’s ok for all the ladies to say “Oooh, hot, I like it!”
Remember a while back when Record10Carbon posted that picture of Ted McGregor and all the girls on the forum were going crazy? Could you imagine the response if he posted a picture of a woman and guys were making the same comments?
Also, you don’t here any fathers saying “Now I have to sit down with my son and explain why a man might pose in so little clothing” like people do when it’s a woman and they have to explain it to their daughters.
That reminds of a wedding show I went to with my then fiance. They had the fashion show and the women were screaming for the male models like they were the Chippendales. On a whim I decided to see what would happen if I did the same for a female model…I did and got death looks from all of the women there. Can you say double standard? By the way don’t try reasoning with Vitus on this topic, he has no ability to hear what anyone else has to say.
What, you got tired of stalking Paulo?
Shoo, fly.
Bet this doesn’t get 340+ posts.
The Amandar Beard thread turned into the “I’m a better parent then you” and “playboy causes blindness and global warming” thread in about 20 posts. I am suprised it didn’t get kicked to the Lavender Room along time ago.
That is for sure, and the fact that so many in this country are incredibly uptight when it comes to sex and the human body and want everybody else to raise their kids for them.
There are three other athletes mentioned in a side bar who “so control their sports”…Tiger Woods, Kelly Slater and Roger Federer.
none of them are probably as dominant as phelps to be honest.
ps if you want to go ‘blind’ there are much better avenues than playboy.

That’s funny and so very true.
Wha… not even a mention for Michael Jordan?

Uh, what do you think the Hottie Thread is/was???
Uh, what do you think the Hottie Thread is/was???
I am going to disagree with that analogy as from what I saw of the Hottie Thread it was mostly magazine style shots, ie. girls posing, trying to be sexy and seductive.
The picture that R10C posted of Ted McGregor was an race shot of an ST poster, so again, I say, what would the reaction be if someone took a race shot of an ST poster and put it up saying “Whoa, check out how hot this girl is,” and then guys went on for several pages making comments? My guess is someone would say it was tasteless and ask that it be taken down.
