What the hell, people spin, get one or two letters then buy vowels right away. Are the “encouraged” to do that? Do they really need those?
I always blame it on nerves. Same with why people YELL their letter choice, even though they are mic’d up. Bet the sound guys love that!
What fucking year is it? Did I drive my DeLorean too fucking fast again???
Ha! No, no you didn’t. I’m 54. Vanna is actually getting Hot looking again. Plus, it wards off the dementia!
That duo is celebrating their 30th year doing this show! How did we get so old!!!
I hate that show, I can’t watch it.
Why do people buy a vowel and then immediately solve? They clearly knew what the word was, why spend money?

Good thing this isn’t a Canadian show. Can you imagine how much money contestants would piss away purchasing the superfluous “u” in every word?
Isn’t that show occupied by Jeopardy dropouts?
If it was a Canadian game show it would be funny because contestants are usually vying for a grand prize of $500

I remember when the contestants used to have to “buy” stuff at the end of each round…“I’d like to buy the ceramic Dalmatian for $200”…
Ha! Awesome! I remember that as well. The prizes were actually fairly decent back then. Yeah, they were overpriced, but, the contestants won a lot more money. It was great when they ran down to the last couple hundred bucks and started buy ceramic animals and yard art.
Best ever:
I have a good feeling…

my grandfather watched that every day for as long as I remember. He did it to keep his help mind sharp and I think it worked.
Funny you mention that. My Father, at 75 back in November 2012 had a stroke. Prior to that he just sat there not saying much. After the stroke, he sits and solve the WOF puzzles like a pro. WTF? He does better now than before the stroke…

My mother LOVED that show. She used to watch it every night.
I’ll vote with whomever said nerves might be the reason for buying a vowel. If you don’t know what it is and pick the wrong letter, you’ve lost a turn and may not get it back. Buying a (correct) vowel might save you from that.
Or the choice of a washer OR dryer.
Regardless, I like word puzzles, so I will sometimes watch to see how fast I can solve. Yeah, sometimes people make bad decisions on vowels or whatever. I had a friend of mine make it to Jeapordy a nd he said it was hell under the lights, so I will cut folks a lot of slack for nerves

FTW. I had the exact same thought when I read this thread title! How long ago was it before they started spotting you the R, S T, L, N & E for the grand prize? Oh and I would still fuck Vanna right now over Miley!

she was in Playboy when you were 2… she’s been on the show longer than you’ve been alive.

she’s currently 56 (so that’ll save everyone from googling).
