Swim team from age 5 to 12 or so. Baseball a bit in little league, maybe age 7 to 10 or so. The 1994 MLB strike killed it for me. Roller hockey from about age 8 to 14. Then into cross country in high school. Mountain biked a lot then too. Lazy as hell from age 18 to 22, then got back slowly into running, then road biking, then finally swimming and tri.
Had a good base for tri from a young age obviously, but my poor genetics just keep me from being more than back of fop.
Baseball a couple years
Basketball a couple years
Wrestling 2 years
Football Soph year of high school
roller hockey during summers in high school
Ice hockey freshman high school through college (now just adult league)
soccer 5-14
Tris - end of hockey till now
Bowling in high school too if that counts? Considering how bad my arm hurts after bowling 3 games now it should. Still havent bowled a 300, closest is 290
I was also a killer hide and go seeker in elementary and middle.
I think thats it…
Paintball?
Paintball?
Strange i know. Practiced with d1-pro teams before a shoulder injury took it away. Played psp, xball, all that good stuff.
Roller hockey
.
As a kid I played until Soph year of HS
Baseball( I sucked)
Basketball I played till college.
Track
Football
Golf(if that counts)
I spent most of my summers at A “sports camp” (8 weeks) so I also got exposed to soccer, volleyball, lacrosse , tennis, swimming, etc
I played racket ball in the early 80’s
I’ve skied and surfed since age 6 add snowboarding since 2000.
As a kid I until Soph year of HS
Basketball I played till college.
Forgot basketball lol
surfed since age 6.
I’m in Ohio, but surfing is something i always wanted to try.
Damn! You must be bored to post all these surveys tonight but wait…what does it say about me!
I wrestled in HS and college and we made fun of all the swim team guys in HS. Not sure what I was thinking as I spent hours each day with sweaty guys while they were with girls in bathing suits!! Doh!!
If I had to pic just one thing I could do it would be surfing. If you get to SoCal let me know and I’ll take you surfing…since you’re a triathlete I assume you can swim…j/k.
I’m lucky my dad surfed and was a lifeguard on Long Island NY so before and after camp I would get my surfing in. Then I moved to SoCal in 73…surfing is kind good here.
Soccer from K-5th grade.
Football from 6th grade thru HS. This was my thing. Could have played in college at D2 schools, but I wanted a “big college” experience. My “coolest” recruiting letter was from Harvard. I hope my parents still have it. Also lifted weights a ton.
Basketball from 2nd grade thru 8th grade (I was the last one to make the team in 7th and 8th grade, when they had tryouts. I got garbage time at the end of games and decided I should probably cut my losses)
Baseball for a few seasons in 6th, 7th grade. Wasn’t my thing.
Downhill skiing became my obsession when I stopped playing basketball in the winter. Michigan skiing sucks, but I learned how to ski on ice. Now, I snowboard and/or ski depending on the conditions (no longer in Michigan - either Mammoth or Park City).
Not competitively, but rode my BMX bike every day it didn’t rain or snow from 1st grade thru 7th grade. Crashed a lot on jumps that we would build in the neighborhood. Behind my house, was a large wooded area. A bunch of us spent a summer basically building a miniature replica of Hell Track from the movie Rad. It was there for several years. Table tops, whooptie-doos, berms, plenty of fun.
Started skateboarding a ton from 7th thru 11th grade. Street skating, vert skating. Would ride my skateboard to a friends house, over 10 miles away. And back.
Waterskiing from 8th grade thru college.
Ice Hockey - Ice skated since I could walk. Started playing in adult leagues and pick up games when I was 17.
Never ran track or cross country. Spent plenty of time in pools and lakes, but never swam competitively. Swimming to me was a way to keep from drowning.
Never owned a road bike until 5 years ago when I did my first tri. I had a mountain bike in college that I would ride to class everyday. In the snow, in the rain - whatever. Would occasionally hit some mountain bike trails, but never with a racing mentality.
haha, i know i know. Friday night and posting on ST. Strangely i prefer this relaxing life. Wine, wife, netflix and ST. Cycling in the morning.

yeah but shaving your legs just isn’t cool in high school.

Dont tempt me lol. I haven’t been to California since i was 16 (8 years ago). Sunset was the best part.
I wish i had more “off based” sports like that when i grew up. I didnt get into snowboarding until later on. i loved bmx. We had a sweet track within 20 minutes. I still have my signature jeremy mcgrath GT lol
Wrestling and downhill ski racing.
Soccer - 2nd grade
Basketball - 7th & 8th grade. Was good enough to make the high school team but ran indoor track instead.
Track - 8th thru senior year of college.
Cross Country - 9th thru senior year of college.
Avid weightlifter from 7th grade thru ~2002 (300 lb bench press)
Full contact medieval style combat 1994-2004
Ice Hockey - a bit in college, and then a lot ~2000 - 2002
Avid disc golf (1st place in local amateur tournament) 1995-2000
Football from 6th grade thru HS. This was my thing. Could have played in college at D2 schools, but I wanted a “big college” experience. My “coolest” recruiting letter was from Harvard. I hope my parents still have it.
Sheesh. Who turns down Harvard?!
Mine:
Soccer and baseball from when I was little through sixth grade. Figure skated too.
7th/8th - cross country and swim team
high school - swim team until end of junior year.
senior year of HS - ran a bunch of local road races and did very well. 1st marathon as a freshman in college.
freshman in college - went to the pool 2x a day in addition to running
sophomore in college - was offered a spot on the swim team (since I lived at the pool anyway). Tried college swimming, didn’t like being on such a big team, decided it wasn’t for me. Still very grateful for the opportunity to try a D1 college sport.
tri since then.
HS Varsity Sports:
Football
Baseball
Basketball
Soccer
Wrestling
Tennis
Swimming
Skied competitively too on the side (HS did not have a team)
In retrospect, guess I had a little bit of ADD.
I played little league soccer, basketball and baseball from 5-12 or so. Summer league Swim team from 8-18. High school, lettered in swimming and track all four years, and lettered in football Jr and Sr year. Did my first tri (a sprint distance in reverse order) in July 1991. Did a few more tris that summer. Swam freshman year in college…ran a few marathons and 10ks between 20 and 27. Got back into tris at age 27, and, aside from a few pickup basketball games here and there, that’s about all I’ve done since…
