They run around and protest pretty much any catastrophe as “the will of god” and “Punishment for offending god”. Last time I saw them pop up was when they were scheduled to protest at a vigil right after the NIU shootings.
At that time I looked at their site and it would appear that they have a rather full schedule of protesting various places and throw in the catastrophes when they arise.

Richard Dawkins summed up their ilk in a column in The Times last week commenting on the some of the Christian right blaming the earthquake in Haiti on some perceived moral lapse in Haiti’s history:

“The religious mind, however, hubristically appropriates the blind happenings of physics for petty moralistic purposes”
These whackjobs call themselves Christian, yet seem to be willfully ignorant of the teachings of Christ. Perhaps they need to review the sermon on the mount again.
to be fair its a difficult book to interpret.
the mastermind behind the book did not adequately anticipate the challenge the human mind would have at grasping the message

God Bless these MO FO’s!!!

That is outstanding.
I’m sure it wb better just to ignore these guys, but I couldnt help reading up on Wikipedia and their own website. To the defense of other religious organizations, these wackos seem to be completely independent, distance themselves from any other congregation, and beleive EVERYONE else is going to hell - even good ole Billy Graham. Westboro “Baptist” Church is not a part of any “Baptist” conference and seems to hate about every other Christian organization, and method of teaching and assembly. Please note also that President Obama is the antichrist. I’m amazed they can actually raise the $250K needed each year to fund their protest.
These people piss me off so much. On every level they make me sick. I feel bad for religion because every church I know of doesn’t behave this way. It’s like that Klan goon in your family. You don’t want him there but there he is being stupid.
“They are evil and not Christians.”
I’ll buy that. Sure I got my problems with religion but I can’t put them in the same camp with these sick freaks.
I can’t find a good link, but there are some seriously hilarious pictures of people who are now organizing and taking pictures with the Westboro aholes. Stuff like “God hates signs” and other silly things, real good stuff.
I’m sure there are some good links to be posted.
Agree. Reminds me of the Catholic Church, which obviously is founded on Christianity but built itself into the exact type of bureaucracy Jesus complained about regarding the Jews. So ironic and hypocritical.
We talked about them during class… I can’t believe there children are the way they are… there are links to wear he protests at fallen soldiers too. It is extremely disrespectful.

.
Ahem.
They had a pretty good counter protest in San Fran. Bunch of people show up across the street with signs that say, among other things…
“I HAVE A SIGN,” “GOD HATES SIGNS,” “I WAS PROMISED DONUTS”
