Wow. Sounds like a great weekend. Good luck on your race. Have you seen the DVD about Badwater?
Goobie dude, I’m not with all these parents…
My son is almost 8 now. If you could skip the entire diaper phase and have the kids delivered right after that when they have normal sleep and are somewhat self sufficient and can talk, that would be the best. I guess that is what you get when you adopt a kid. I’d never give my son up for anything, but I have to truly be honest that the zero through two year old phase is less enjoyable than the 3-8 phase. I’d imagine that many parents who are being honest would concurr. Of course, I did not help matters when I did an Ironman when my son was 6-12 months old. A bad plan and I would not recommend this path to anyone ! Now I can go mountain bike riding with my son when I get home from work and that is a total blast ! My son just spent the last 4 days with a stomach flu so if he feels better this weekend, we might hit the trails behind our house for some half hour jaunts this weekend.
The DVD was awesome and that is what got me interested in the book.
I hope it turns out to be a good weekend. The sun has made a magical appearance here on the Eastside of Seattle and I am jonesing to get outside.
Let’s see, happy hour with the girlfriends tonight but in bed by 11. 4:30 brick tomorrow, 3:15 run sunday. Probably dress, go out to eat and out for a beer saturday night. Got a be a girly girl at night when you spend this much time training! Coffee date saturday afternoon with a newbie.
working all weekend. hope to get 12 mile run in on sunday after my last meeting
Thanks for keeping me entertained. Have a great weekend. Good luck on all of your races. Race/train safe.
It’s Saturday morning & I’m about to head off to the shiop and buy a couple of fish for my aquarium. After that it’s PARTAY TIME as two friends are having a joint 30th. Tomorrow wil be recovering form a hangover and trainaing will resume on Monday…
Friday night - off to bed early. Had all-nighters at work the last 2 nights, so time to catch up on some zzz’s.
Saturday - Up early and off to Auburn to pace a friend in the American River 50 endurance run. I’m joining him for the final 22.6 miles, including the nasty 3 mile climb to the finish…good practice for WTH in 2 weeks. I love trail running!
Sunday - Some long ride (100+ miles) in the hills and a short swim afterwards if I have any energy left.
Love these epic weekends!
My current job requires I attend weekend drill here with the Hawaii National Guard on an ‘orders exercise.’ As the regular army advisor to the HIARNG I’m there helping them 'be all they can be." Great bunch of men an women too BTW. From the armory tomorrow I plan to to a brick-brick: 12mile bike-2mile run-12mile bike-2 mile run. Finishing touches for Honolulu TRI in a couple of weekends. RLTW.
Hawley - Guess you won’t be at Lavaman on Sunday. A lot of Honolulu folks coming over to the Big Island for that one. We’ll be there volunteering for that one.
But first on Saturday I have to teach the football boys some prom etiquite for their dates. It’s hard when neither hubby not myself was into the prom thing in highschool, thought it was a stupid waste of money. They don’t really want to go, but one has a girlfriend who wants to (he’d rather be fishing, surfing or playing some sort of sport) and the other is at least going with a stag group of male friends who’ll meet up with a girl group there. These are the things all of you with little ones get to look forward to…it’s all fun and does go by in a flash.
Friday night, early to bed b/c I have a du in the morning. 4mi/16mi road bike/4 mi run, can’t wait!!!
Tomorrow evening hang out with my favorite person, my 10 year old son. Sunday morning up early for a ride then a little league game.
On the parenting, I’ve truly enjoyed every age. Best thing I’ve ever done, hands down.

Took Friday off from work to take care of some errands (and enjoy a mental health day), then spent a really wonderful evening with my girlfriend ![]()
This morning I am off to coach a group of athletes in the Joints in MOtion program. We meet once or twice a week, and have a brick on the schedule today. Going to be a cold brick (in Ohio), but it will be good to get outside.
Got to do those taxes - will probably work on that this afternoon. Tomorrow is a three-hour run, as I’m preparing for the Flying Pig in May.
