Anyone know if the location has been decided for 2024 yet? I overheard some folks this weekend saying it was going to be in Atlantic City but haven’t seen any official announcement yet.

The USAT website did briefly say Atlantic City in 2024 (https://i.imgur.com/w71eqvx.jpeg) but that seems to be removed and those dates seem to conflict with Atlantic City 70.3 in 2024

Do we know when the 70.3 actually is? Ironman didn’t have a date listed for it in their 2024 race schedule email a month or so back.

Interesting a mid Sept time frame. That would be bad timing for. the USAT Junior side of racing, but it also may mean USAT wants to go back to Junior only race location, like they had prior to this year.

I wasn’t there, but the feedback I heard from the athletes and parents for the Youth/Junior elite races are not very positive, mostly due to the size of the venue and participants which caused a lot of logistic issues. All the qualifying races are in a standalone venue, as such, the athletes have developed their routines, this was quite a shock to them. Also, I heard the race routes are not as interesting and spectators/parents/coaches friendly.

Delmo himself has said this is the last year for the Ironman 70.3 Atlantic City.
But Ironman purposefully updated their calender to add it as “Coming Soon” after it wasn’t on the initial list.
Is Ironman trying to coordinate with USAT, ala PTO this year, or are maybe all the players at the table?
I haven’t heard a lot of great reviews for the junior races, but if I’m reading that 70.3 race has expired, then they could move to the 1st week of August weekend and still keep all the races together.

When I googled 2024 Atlantic City 70.3 yesterday it said the race was on Friday September 13th but can no longer find it.
Right, Omaha is 5-9 June 2024 but is the Multisport Festival that has been in Irving, TX the last two years at the end of April/start of May. USA Triathlon | Multisport National Championships Festival
I feel like continuity would be good for an event like AG Nats – either yearly or every other year (rotating east/west coast). Milwaukee seemed like a good host city. Small city with a relatively quiet convention center downtown area. Plenty of places to stay. Plenty of food options. Accessible airport, with the option of flying into Chicago. The PTO Open looked better there than Dallas. Wonder if part of this is to get the PTO race closer to a bigger city.
If the juniors sticks w the weekend format of the AG races and it is held in Sept. with this supposed time line. that will be a complete death blow to junior development. I’ve got to think they wouldn’t have junior nationals during academic calendar, the 1st of Aug timeline is just about perfect for that event.

In fact they should consolidate all the junior elite events between late May and early August. The Richmond event is too early for most.
Agreed, never been to Milwaukee aside from driving through it; the entire city did quite well hosting it. Had a small town feel yet was a larger town obviously–but the drivers cutting in front of pedestrians downtown with a “walk sign” --they have novice driving skills it seems! lol
But the overall venue was great. Maybe add 10 - 15 more porta potties in and around the transition area.
The water felt awesome but the layout of the goofy shape of the swim was not something I was a fan of.
The PTO race was awesome to watch.
I did see some ejected equipment on the neighborhood bumps/cracks, whatever you call it on the last out & back, as well as a few likely from the expansion joints on the bridge. Aside from that, it was a fair bike course.
I have been in Milwaukee the past three years. I like it. Being from the South it gives me a chance to travel to areas I normally would not. Milwaukee seems nice and the course is very nice. With the addition of the Juniors this year the race site was really overcrowded. I enjoyed seeing the kids, they were really well behaved and think it’s great they are involved in sports. I know my tennis career starting at age 12 changed my life for sure. A stand-alone event for the Juniors is probably the way to go for several reasons.
Honestly I really hope it’s Milwaukee again. Looking at last participation numbers MKE has consistently pulled in the highest number of athletes.
The size of the city, fast race course, climate, altitude, etc just work really well for a national championship.
