@LarsDiepenhorst - very, very interesting indeed. But canĀ“t really find info on this, not even on RobertĀ“s IGā¦ but it looks great! (and expensive)
Hereās a similar version of those bars that are cheap from eBay. I tried to secure a pair a few weeks ago from this seller but they were not in stock, so I would definitely message them first to confirm availability.
Carbon Bicycle TT Arm Rest Handlebar Aero Bars Handlebar Extension Triat | eBay
I have seen similar no gap bars tested in the tunnel, they were not that fast and being non UCI legal, means the market is pretty small.
Thanks Rockdude. Do you mean: They are not faster than āpartedā bars?
Or they are faster, but not by muchā¦ ?
Not super affordable but have you seen the evolve aero bars?
Sam Long, Skipper, and Trevor Foley are all running them.
Parted bars were faster. Not to say that a single bar couldnāt be a faster design but our experience showed that it was more of an air dam.
Yes mate, thanks - I am actually using Evolve today for long elbow pads, and frankly Evolve is the closest I have found. Harry does great work!
Still a bit steep pricewise right? Like 2000 EUR/USD
What still puzzles me, is that not more companies are not tapping into this at much more reasonable prices. I assume Canyon will launch something with the new Speedmax. I really does not need to be a 3K USD/EUR product
I think its even more than that. $1800 British pounds. Which is like $2400 USD.
Do you know anything about those bars? Is there any adjustability with them? Or is it once you set them up, thatās what you get?
I know that you make a custom order, so assume that they will capture the measures needed and work from that. You cannot adjust anything after that, I believeā¦
I also had the size L TFE Pro and couldnāt find a solution, they were just too short. I ended up keeping the Metron base bar and got AeroCoach Ascalon extensions. They were able to customize the end grippers and add 30mm of reach. Expensive lesson, but I think the TFEās just arenāt designed for long course and were meant to have your elbows hanging off the back.
Sorry, This was years ago and I donāt have the data anymore.
Mine is separate left and right but you get full length adjustment, width adjustment, hand grip adjustment and in testing phase including a reach plate s shown in the image. Bike fitters will be able to fit everyone
comfortably.
This is what I have always thought about being an air dam
But then I see LCB and many others going to this
Maybe mandated by their sponsors?
I mean, in this thread were are mentioning 3 athletes that are using mono-bars: Ditlev, Kalinn and Long. Happens to be amongst the fastest long-distance bikers (all in top 5) out there, right?
Not saying that it is the mono-bar that makes them the fastest, but they all take every little aero advantage they can get seriously.
Ditlev reckoned his first DIY version was 5w faster. But then sure I have heard Mark Mathews say it was slower for Kat. Like all things aero seems pretty individual.
Here is one that I had not seen before, but on Astleigh GentlesĀ“s bike. Looks nice, but made i NZ
Those look very very nice but ridiculously expensive!
