Ultegra 6870 Di2 setup on BMC TM01 (or any other TT bike)

Hi, I pulled the plug and TM01 frameset is coming to town :-). It is to be setup with the new Ultegra 6870 Di2. I’ve read numerous postings on the subject and would like to get a confirmation and some answers. I believe the setup is to look like below (green is fairly sure, red is not-really-sure)

I’d love someone to confirm the green parts and answer few questions about the red parts

  1. Battery holder SM-BMR2-XX. There are few different ones including BMR1, short, and long ones. Which one is the most suitable for the BMC TM01 internal battery compartment?
  2. PC interface SM-PCE1. I assume I will need it to do some firmware upgrades and switch programming. The new internal battery charger SM-BCR2 does it too but I do not think I can use it with the battery (SM-BTR1) that fits into TM01, correct?
  3. and then there is the SM-EW67AE junction with battery charge indicator and RD adjustment capabilities. This unit is not needed and not compatible with the setup above (supposedly). How is the RD adjusted then without it? Do I care?
  4. if someone knows what wire lengths to use for TM01 size M-S I’d appreciate the info: RD, FD, battery, and junction A to junction B wires.

Thx much

Looks like I might be on the right track with all this. Shimano manuals actually have very good info on the setup with charts\schematics\etc.TM01 manual has some info too. It looks like they are actually using battery holder for external mounting; either SM-BMR2-S1 or SM-BMR2-S2 (the difference between them is the length of the included bolts: 10mm in S1 and 16mm in S2).
SM-PCE1 is not needed unless one wants to do system diagnostics and\or programming.
One thing I am still puzzled with - the sticking out connected as shown on the TM01 seattube’s pix - a connector to the water bottle?

The frame has an internal Di2 battery compartment near the bb. There should be enough room to use the shimano internal battery in the frame. It might fit in the seatpost or it could slide down into the seat tube. I don’t have the frame so I don’t know for sure.

The above link gives info on the Di2 battery compartment and cable lengths for the various connections.

Most of the internal Di2 compatible frames have holes just under the bottom bottle bolt for the cables to attach to the front derailleur. The newer 6870 and 9070 derailleurs have the cable attach on the other side of the front derailleurs now.

Good pointer officespaced; THX!!!
Indeed, I might think about using the internal pencil like battery and mount it someplace in the seatpost or right in the seattube (through the dedicated battery cover). This would allow me to charge the battery without removing it and provide firmware update ability without purchasing SM-PCE1. I wonder if the port placement on the derailleurs will present some issues; hopeful not.
Cheers

This is an easy one - it’s a FD connector; duhhhhh!
Looks like cable routing on 2014 and 2013 models is the same and BMC now has an Ultegra 6870 TM01 setup so there should be no issues with routing the electrical wires.
One last remaining thing before ordering small bits - how to mount the new internal battery - I presume this should not be an issue

Hey man - sry to resurrect an old thread. Did you ever get the “pencil-like” internal batter to work in this frame? I’ve been running my TM01 with the standard battery and I despise removing it for charging…

It will work there and or you can route up into the seatpost
