China puking the trillions of treasuries they own
At what point do all the rich and powerful with connections start telling Trump to pull his head in as he is costing them millions, or does he seriously now just not give a fark cost itâs his last term?

If people donât think treasuries are a safe haven, possibly due to the US having an idiot in charge, that would cause the rates to go up and break one of the strongest parts of the US economy.
My impression was that China dumped its large positions in US Treasuries years ago.
China still holds $761 billion in U.S. Treasury securities. Japan holds about $1 Trillion.
And now Hegseth formally tossing verbal bombs at a press conference regarding China and the Panama Canal.

What I heard out of his mouth yesterday on his visit to the canal and Panama sounded like he was reading a prepared text that hit all the right buttons namely Panama was in the lead of efforts to oust Chinaâs economic influence in the two port cities. I did wince at the mention of sovereign and there is some conflict with the Spanish and English versions.
That doesnât seem like such a big deal. It is like 3 percent of American net debt. It seems a bigger deal that Trump is provoking China in a rather foolish way. They have a lock on rare earth metals. Try making an I phone without China. It would make much more sense to develop capacity to function without China before picking a big fight with them.
Agreed. China treasury holding have been shrinking and are now at a 14 year lowâŠall while we have been issuing more, and more, debt. It is not as big a deal as it was 10 years ago.
So now Trump is declaring victory by pausing tariffs on all but China. I am struggling with the appropriate analogy. But it seems like going over to start a fight with your neighbour and then after you both get beat up you declare victory because you decided to go home. The false claim that everybody is coming on bended knee to negotiate with America seems weak. What is humurous is all the MAGA folks now thing Trump is a genius.
It is incorrect to say that trump is pausing tariffs on all but China.
We know he is still imposing a 10% tariff on all imports. And it is unknown if that is instead of, or in addition to, or anything to the tariffs he is imposing on Canada and Mexico.
I mean, they are supposed to be collecting this stuff now, but the White House apparently canât say what the situation actually is.
