I noted after the 1st stage of the TdF with my cycling mates there was going to be a commentary called “The Move” with Lance Armstrong, George Hincapie and Sir Bradley Wiggins. I missed it since I was still riding with a cycling group. During a brief stop at a coffee shop one of our riders mentioned this while reviewing his phone. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
They have been doing The Move for years. It is very well produced and the quality increases with every year. I think the budget is huge. Lance and George have great chemistry.
I like The Move a lot, been listening to it for years, but their ad reads are the worst of any podcast I listen to.
What about PTN?
Spencer is great and his chats with Johan are a good listen. The Lance and George pods are fine, but as said above the ad reads are horrendous and lengthy. I actually don’t know of another pod with more ad reads.
From what I hear, those reads (at least for the companies that LA doesn’t have an investment interest in) definitely don’t come cheap, so at least folks are getting their money’s worth.
Will be interesting to see how much of the product placement is allowed to bleed into the portion of their show that Peacock is broadcasting. Not interesting enough for me to tune in to Peacock, though.
I have in the past got the impression that only johan and occasionally George prepare for those episodes. I wouldn’t be surprised if lance doesn’t watch anything before coming on sometimes. Johan is almost always on point. A very insightful observer.
I put it on yesterday, and it’s just the same as you get on YouTube; 4 minutes of ad reads at the start (then a moment about about the flooding in TX)
I did not watch the Johan & Sir Wiggo show yesterday, and I routinely skip Outcomes
I used to listen to the jb2 podcast, maybe ill try johan and wiggens, although im skeptical. My enjoyment of the move went way up when i just stopped listening to the podcasts with lance
This is what I did while listening to Lance’s show
Interpret that as you see fit (my therapist & I will work on it, Friday afternoon LOL)
If anyone - besides me - is interested, I did a little searching (OK, I actually ASKED Team WEDŪ a few years ago, and saved the artist in my Spotify queue) and found that the harmonica that opens the show is provided by one Mickey Raphael
Among other credits, he is featured in this track from an Elmore James tribute album, playing with Warren Haynes & Billy Gibbons
I see what you did there.
