The Bikes of the Top 15 Fastest Pro Men at the 2025 IRONMAN World Championship

just answering to the thread, Nathan Guerbeur, who can be considered as the surprise performer in the weekend, who finished his 2nd IM race less than 2 months was on the french podcast ‘Le Tri chaud’. He said that he is not sponsored and bought 90 % of his equipment…..He was Duathlon long distance world champion in 2021 and has only been pro for 2 years. He is a construction engineer. He thinks that aero testing will be needed as he was losing time to his competitors on flat parts. Oh and he swims with the crowd during public hours and said he was banned for 3 months just before Nice for arguing with a woman who had scratched him. He is an Alsetian and had to go around pools around Strasbourg to find lanes! And he sounded nice about it not like some entitled pro complaining about ‘ average people’. He said that he enjoyed talking to people at the pool in smaller cities as they were less stressed out.

It probably doesn’t matter, but Riddle’s and Long’s front wheel look shallower than noted in the article.

I count 5 EZ Gains. I believe Hogenhaug has one attached to the TriRig extension possibly because they don’t make one for his saddle and I don’t think Sam Laidlow is using the Canyon BTS as that attaches to the frame, that also looks like an EZ Gain and I saw in one of Sam’s lead in video’s as he was assembling his bike.

Request: what gearing where they riding? Wonder if any made specific changes for NICE, or stayed with large 1x ring

Wishful request: power data AP/NP i think MVR was the only one who mentioned power data on his socials

Sam long posted his power to Strava. He made segments for each section of climb, descent and plateau so you can see how his power differed for each section.

1.) power is a closely guarded secret…mostly (as some have noted). If it ain’t on Strava it didn’t happen, right?

2.) We usually have the most success on getting gearing from athletes if we got a pre-race gallery of their bike, but if we didn’t get a gallery, we’re in a bind. Everybody on 1X is on what appears to be at least a 54T ring, with a lot of guys even on 2X going 56T+.

Great pics. Thanks for posting. I would love to have the data from the pros based on their watts and what power meter they were using.

Sam long 328 NP, here are the splits if you want to try to figure AP

Didn’t realize Sam is no longer with HED. $$$…

Laidlow moved this off-season.

Why is it called “rear derailleur hanger”? Shouldn’t it be “pulley cage”?

13/15 with BOA dials, time to stop stressing over shoes being aero maybe?

Eh, probably “RD cage” or similar.

Thanks! How is Martin’s HR average 130?! That is insane?

So Martin went 18 minutes faster (4h31 vs 4h49) on 7 watts more (301w vs 294w NP) ?

According to his Comments on Instagram Marten has a max HR of 160 and weighs 68kg.

4,4 vs 4,2 w/kg

Once again HR is so variable between people, using your numbers and comparing to others is a fools errand. Lionel is also in that super low max area, when he is at 130 his paces compared to others in the pro field are miles away. There are pros that arent even past warm up at 130, Lionel is running 5 minute miles…

It’s always funny to see videos where he’s at like…119 in training and out of breath. I’ve got a friend who…for sure needs some aerobic work, but we will be on a conversational run and he’s running and not breathing overly heavy and he’s like…178 HR at 29 yo while I’m at 135 at 50 lol. We are regularly 50 beats apart which is insane to me, but shows your point in the other direction.
