So Floyd and Kay actually thought Floyd could get a farewell tour with Team Radio Shack? That alone proves Floyd’s mental state. Not real surprising that none Lance’s or his people’s email responses were included.

Fascinating, bizzarre stuff but unsurprisingly it’s not quite the rabid lunatic ravings that you might expect from LA’s press conference descriptions. I assume someone at velo news isn’t very happy about these emails being published either

I have a feeling that Lance never replied directly to Floyd. His lawyers had to be all over this the second it came up. If there are responses, those would be very interesting to see.

This whole thing is just bizarre. Floyd doesn’t come off as crazy as the press release makes it sound, but he definitely comes off as threatening.

Drew

I think this was a dare/standoff.

Floyd, in a veiled manner, somewhat publicly threatened after the tour of the bahamas this year.

http://neilbrowne.com/2010/01/floyd-landis-rumors-rock-racing-and-bowling/

““I have no clue what’s going on. After the Tour of the Bahamas I’m going back to my shack behind the car wash. Maybe I’ll write a book.””

People took that as a public threat to expose LA. Lance called his bluff. Here it is.

Are you kidding me? He comes off pretty lousy to me. Not sure what you expected to see, but these e-mails are a razor blade short of extortion. Very sad to see.

I’m quite sure these emails aren’t the whole story.

true…the text messages might be coming next! Did he not learn anything from Tiger Woods??

I guess I meant Floyd sounded more composed than the press release made it sound. I agree he comes off as “lousy” as the e-mails are threatening.

Lousy hell. Seriously… he comes off as delusional and mentally ill.
Someone noted that his emails do not sound like the writings of a lunatic… mental illness takes many forms.
I have a feeling that Floyd is going to end-up in a cell before this is over… perhaps a padded one.

I’m sure Floyd will be fine after all this. He could always go into cycle coaching - I hear Matt Reed is always looking for help.

Yeah, I dont believe Floyd for a second. He sounds insane.

How’s that old saying go? “Just because you’re paranoid, doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get you…” Floyd may be insane, but his accusations might still be accurate. I can understand they appear at first to be inversely related, but they are in fact two distinct concepts that are not necessarily dependent.

Everyone knows that. Everyone also knows that crazy people say crazy shit. That’s why you need evidence and there has always been a shocking lack of hard evidence against Lance, George and Levi.

Exactly.

People are just shooting the messenger instead of looking at the message.

Dopestrong organsitation will just try and discredit the messenger and make him out to be mentally ill. Who cares, some mentally ill people are responsible for some of the most advanced technological and scientific breakthroughs in history.

Let’s focus on the message. If there isn’t a massive investigation into this then it is quite clear that neither government or governing bodies are the least bit interested in the anti-doping campaign.

Let’s get real, there isn’t a fan in cycling that doesn’t deep down believe the core of what Floyd is saying - that he doped all his career and his team educated him how to do it.

So why bother even arguing about the personality and shortcomings of the messenger - lets look at the message and get to the bottom of it.

Damn…this could be a made for TV movie! The one I feel sorry for is Dr. Kay. Sounds like he really believed in Floyd and is now just another sucker/victim of the big con job. Just like with Nixon and Martha Stewart, the cover up is worse than the crime.

I say one big round-up of the peloton’s and test everyone!! Let the cards fall where they may. You test hot banned for life. Young lad step up take his spot and if you do the same thing your out faster then you can say HGH. Tough, yes but its time to put a end to the shenanigans for good.

Awesome…where do we start? I got it…let’s waterboard Lance until he confesses! Wait…

Some people just don’t get it.

Testing does not catch drug cheats.

Asking people if they cheated does not catch drug cheats.

If the governing bodies and governments were serious, they’d use tried and tested investigative methods.

What’s in it for a governing body to have their sport bascially revealed for what it truly is - a total sham.

And it isn’t just cycling, cycling problably gets more coverage then it deserves. Soccer/Football, Tennis, Golf are all in the thick of it, and the administrators and officials involved simply don’t care - because all they care about is their product and selling their product to as many people as they can for as much money as they can.

I just don’t get all the bad press agasint Floyd, who cares if he’s nuts. Who cares when he chose to make the statements. People are all in a tizz and panic because they want to believe it isn’t so. Well it is so - and it always has been so - if you are still trying to defend the sport and cyclists now then you really have been hanging out with Johnny Depp in wonderland far too long.

…but his accusations might still be accurate.

Agreed… but Floyd’s motivations are completely self serving and dishonorable.

Secondly, how far back do we need to go? A lot has changed in the last 10 years. Doping was the ‘norm’ in pro cycling and has been for about 100 years (literally). We’re not talking about a few bad seeds, we’re talking about the entire sport. That’s why I can’t get too worked-up because there MIGHT be a few guys left racing (clean) today who MIGHT have done a little doping 10 or more years ago.
